The Feline Kidney Message Board (FKMB) is live.

It's a community forum similar to the FDMB, but for caregivers managing feline chronic kidney disease.

It’s run by the same administrator with the same objective. To provide a supportive and organized place where caregivers can learn, share experiences, and help each other.

On Friday, May 8, we are hosting a blood drive in the NHS auditorium. On top of saving lives, the American Red Cross is giving anyone who donates that day a $20 egift card *AND* we'll add in a $50 coupon toward adopting.

Tommy is Terrific!

Tommy is one of Aurora Adopt A Pet’s (Aurora, Nebraska) two special needs cats. He recently was diagnosed with diabetes and although they are a volunteer staff, they have worked out a way to administer his daily shot. Do you want a cat that is a character? If so Tom is your guy! Tom will give you endless funny photo ops and love. He has been at the shelter almost 3!!! years now.

Tommy about 5 years old and is a wonderful laid back kind of guy who adores his food and his humans. It is impossible not to be totally smitten with this big orange tabby! He is as sweet as they come, in fact you might say he’s a little too sweet! He seems to have no care about dogs or other cats and is easy to get along with. Unfortunately Tom was probably abandoned in the country and brought in by someone who could see how social he was. Some words to describe him: Friendly, Affectionate, Independent, Brave, Loyal, Curious.

If anyone is interested in adopting Tommy, the shelter could work out all the details about the diabetes and medicine. Don’t let this disease stop you from applying to make this boy your own! His condition is well managed, he takes his shots like a champ, and is otherwise healthy!

Plattsmouth is next on our schedule after this weekend‘s clinic, April 11, 2026, from 8-noon. NOTE location change!!!! We will be by Taco Bell/KFC, 2400- 8 th Ave. All cats, dogs and their caretakers welcomed, drive up clinic, follow volunteer directions.

Get ready! Vaccination season is coming! March 14 from 12(noon) to 5 pm at the Nebraska Humane society, located at 90th and Fort, Omaha NE.

People are given a numbered paper as they arrive and we go in that numbered order.

The dog combo includes lepto.

World Spay Day is Tuesday February 24th. Its early in the year to help spread the importance of spays and neuters and as part of that education we are offering our first discounted spay day-$50 off owned pets and $5 off TVNR!

All appointments can be booked online, and MUST be scheduled next Tuesday 2/24 to be eligible for the discount.

All appointments include core vaccines, microchip, microchip registration and all medications for the procedure. Heartworm tests, felv/fiv tests, flea & tick medication, antibiotics, etc are not included in the discounted package price.

Appointments are limited- as of noon today there are 1 dog spay appointment, 3 cat spay appointments, and 11 cat neuter appointments.

If no appointment is available online when you input your pets information and you would like to be added to the waitlist send an email to [email protected] with your name, phone number and your pets name, age, breed, gender and approximate weight.

Lets beat the heat and prevent pet overpopulation.

Pet licensing season is here! 🐾

Did you know that licensing your cat not only helps keep them safe, but also helps keep other pet in our community safe, too?

Licensing your pet through Nebraska Humane Society:
✔ Helps reunite lost pets with their families quicker
✔ Is required by local ordinance in most jurisdictions
✔ Shows you're a responsible (and awesome) pet parent

If your cat is already altered and current on their rabies vaccine, licensing is quick and easy! If your cat's rabies vaccine has expired, or will expire soon, contact us to setup an appointment to ensure you're squared away before the March 15th deadline. We know just how much you love your cats, and licensing them just one small step that makes a big difference in protecting them and your community. 🩷
