We're taking a break over the Labor Day weekend. However, litter doesn't take a break. If you see something - do something! Personally, I'll be picking up that plastic bag someone mowed in the bank's grassy area. ❤🌎‼

The folks that live around Democracy Park do an amazing job of keeping the park picked up! (lots of dog walkers))The Park did not have much litter. The surrounding area along Fort St was a different story. Windblown trash, motorists tossing stuff out their windows. An interesting development: several of our volunteers ran into an unhoused person under the Fort St. Bridge over the creek, north side.. This person was trying to clean out under the bridge....a massive undertaking that we aren't capable of. The volunteers came back to home base with a huge bed sheet full of trash. They took back a bunch of our bags, a grabber tool and some gloves to give him. The unhoused person was overjoyed to receive supplies to help. We are always amazed and thankful for the opportunity to help our environment and have an impact on others! ❤🌎‼ P.S. Peg went to Esther Pilster Park, nearby, to pick up and made a big impact there.

Join us if you are able this morning 9-10am at Democracy Park. 89th& Templeton/Fort St. area, Saturday, Aug. 29. We'll pick up the park and along Fort St. This is a favorite area for people to park who use the Keystone trail. Supplies provided, bring your own water...we'll have water bottle slings to pass out. ❤🌎‼

Kountze Park starts the weekend off shining! City of Omaha Parks & Recreation (thanks for checking in with us!) emptied the green barrels, Blue Bucket Project volunteers picked everything NOT in a green barrel!. Lea, Kathy, Jim, Brian, Pat, Ornesha and yours truly nabbed litter along the curb as well. For our Friday finds: Frog, fork, fancy bracelet❤🌎‼

THE MORNING AFTER: See the blue bag? ALL RECYCLING..cans/plastic bottles. This crew of 17 amazing humans collected 15 bags of litter/trash and a 40 gal bag of recycling! All Flash Trash Participants received a volunteer shirt from Dundee Day 2026. (Thank you to the crew from the event who helped). We were also treated to mimosas and goodies from LaCartier by Tim Reeder, Better Homes & Gardens Realty. We absolutely love the neighborhood vibe! WAY TO GO DUNDEE & the Blue Bucket Project. What a positive impact on the environment and community building.❤🌎‼

What a FUN morning at the Dundee Day Parade. Our Blue Bucket Project volunteers were amazing. Walking back to the starting point, it was evident our group had picked up tootsie rolls, dumdums, and a variety of other trash and litter. One thing we absolutely love is when those watching the parade ask if they can deposit trash in our buckets. ABSOLUTELY! ❤🌎‼ , . Deep gratitude to the parade organizers for inviting us to attend and to our super amazing human volunteers from all over Omaha: Ann, Mary Lynn, Char, Cindy, Howard, Barb, Douglas, Michelle, Geri, Marta, Bridget, Paula, Jek and Nancy. We are forever grateful.

Just found a cool use for those plastic pieces that we find in the spring that come from snow removal brushes. Using them to mark the pollinator plants just planted that were donated by Bumbling Bee Native Wildflowers.
