Our friends at Walk & Roll for Disabilities said it best:

"Today we honor the moms, grandmas, and mother figures who roll with strength, walk with purpose, and love with everything they have."

To those who advocate, support, and show up every day — thank you. Your love and resilience inspire us all.

This community is stronger because of you.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms, grandmas, and mother figures who walk and roll beside us — we celebrate you today and always.

Did you know?!?!

On this day, March 12, 1990, many Disabled activists marched from the White House to the U.S. Capitol to demand that Congress pass the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). At the Capitol, many left their wheelchairs and mobility aids at the base of the stairs and crawled up the steps in a powerful act of civil disobedience, calling out the discrimination and inaccessibility that impacts Disabled Americans.

Later that year, on July 26, President George H.W. Bush signed the ADA into law — a milestone won through the leadership and persistence of the disability community.

🚨ACTION ALERT: tell DHHS that Nebraskans say NO to eliminating Medicaid retroactive coverage. Submit your comment by March 26 at 🔗neappl.es/retro

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced in February that it plans to seek federal approval to eliminate retroactive coverage for all Medicaid enrollees, which protects low-income Nebraskans from crippling medical debt and ensures that hospitals can keep their doors open.

Medicaid retroactive coverage covers health care bills for low-income Medicaid enrollees for a certain time prior to their month of application if they would have been eligible for Medicaid at the time. This coverage is especially critical for those facing health crises.

DHHS is proposing to eliminate this critical coverage for everyone, including NICU babies, children, those with disabilities, those who are pregnant, seniors, nursing home residents, parents, and other adults.

This would not only hurt our families and neighbors – it would deliver another devastating blow to our health system in Nebraska, which is already going to see over 50,000 more uninsured patients and receive $4 billion less in federal funding due to the health care cuts passed in Congress’ “One Big Beautiful Bill,” also known as H.R.1, last summer.

Francis Hannon was such an amazing man. He not only was such a pillar in the community, he also did so much for our spina bifida group! We always had a great time at his farm during our hayrack ride socials. Francis will be greatly missed.
