Our nonprofit colleagues at South Sound Partners for Philanthropy invite nonprofit professionals, board members, and community leaders from across the region to join them for An Evening with Robert Egger on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts.

The program begins with a networking reception at 5:00 pm, followed by Egger’s keynote from 6:00 - 7:00 pm on the mainstage. This special gathering offers an opportunity to connect with peers and explore how we can challenge traditional assumptions, rethink giving, and spark meaningful transformation across the region.

Robert Egger is a lifelong "power of food" champion, author of “Begging for Change”, and originator of the Community Kitchen movement. As the founder of DC Central Kitchen, LA Kitchen, and a Founding Board Member of World Central Kitchen alongside Chef José Andrés, his work has helped produce over 400 million meals and empowered thousands toward self-sufficiency. A Presidential Point of Light and James Beard Humanitarian of the Year awardee, Egger brings a bold, practical vision for the economic and social power of nonprofits.

Today, we're highlighting the Nonprofit Missions in Action category in our Here For Generations Summer Photo Contest. Photographers that enter this category are invited to share images of nonprofits and community organizations making a difference through service, support, and action in Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties.

As wildfires continue to impact communities across Washington, many of us are looking for immediate ways to help. If you're wondering how to support relief and recovery efforts today, here is where your help is needed most:

Disaster Relief & Recovery Funds (Financial Gifts)
• American Red Cross Northwest Region – is receiving donations to help with emergency shelter, meals, and vital supplies on the ground.
• Community Foundation of NCW – Directing vital resources to long-term recovery efforts via the NCW Fire Relief Fund.
• Innovia Foundation – Supporting impacted nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations through the Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Fund.
• United Ways of the Pacific Northwest – Channeling direct disaster relief through the Greater Spokane Recovery Fund (www.uwpnw.org/greater_spokane_recovery_fund) and Disaster Recovery Fund (www.uwpnw.org/donate_disaster_recovery).

Immediate Supply Drops & Volunteer Needs
• Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) – Recruiting volunteer responders via the Spokane County’s emergency management portal to aid on-the-ground recovery efforts (www.spokanecounty.gov/1811/Volunteer-Opportunities).
• Second Harvest Inland Northwest – Accepting non-perishable food donations to keep disaster-relief pantries stocked at 1234 E. Front Ave. in Spokane, M-F, 8 a.m. - 4:30 pm.
• HEART Spokane & SpokAnimal C.A.R.E. – Seeking foster homes and volunteers to assist with emergency pet care and temporary shelter operations.

🎉 You’re invited to a special America 250 Museum Day program at the historic Bigelow House Museum.

Walk in the footsteps of Susan B. Anthony—who visited the home in 1871—for an afternoon commemorating the ratification of the 19th Amendment. The afternoon will feature docents in period attire, stories of local women in the suffrage movement, light refreshments, and a themed sing-along. This is a free event and fun for all ages!
