It’s that time of year and Give Local 2026 is just around the corner. It’s an annual celebration of generosity, where neighbors across Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties come together to support community causes they care about.

Between now and when Give Local starts on November 2nd, we're seeking matching commitments. We already have a few generous supporters who have pledged to give a total of $1,600 in matching funds, and we’re looking for clean energy champions to join them.

Doubling the impact of every dollar donated incentives giving and provides a higher level of donor recognition. Episcopal Retirement Community (ERC) and project partners are thrilled to announce the completed installation of a 152 kW solar power system on the rooftop of Colonial Residence.

This project, made possible through the collective efforts of ERC staff, the WA Department of Commerce Clean Energy Program, Olympia Community Solar, and South Sound Solar, reduces operating costs and generates clean electricity for the Colonial Residence. The endeavor allows ERC to reinvest savings into resident programs, facility maintenance, and affordable rent stability.

This ceremony and workshop is a great opportunity to learn more about the benefits of solar, meet the individuals and organizations that have made this project a reality, and celebrate ERC’s commitment to caring for people and the planet.

Looking to make your home more energy efficient while saving money?

Energize Thurston offers Thurston County residents access to exclusive discounts and financial incentives for energy-efficient heat pumps and heat pump water heaters.

Households in Thurston County who work with a program-certified installer can save over $4,000 on qualified heat pump equipment. Additionally, Energize Thurston offers a limited number of fully or partially subsidized heat pump and heat pump water heater installations for income-qualified households through the Energize Thurston Grant Program, opening in October.

Energize Thurston is implemented through a partnership between the cities of Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater, Thurston County, and South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity.

If you’re interested in participating in Energize Thurston, you can watch our online educational workshop at energizethurston.org. This workshop provides information about heat pump technology, home energy savings, our network of Certified Installers, and how to get started with a free site assessment. Please note a separate workshop series for the Energize Thurston Grant Program will be held in Fall 2026.

The ducks were racing and the sun was shining at the The Olympia Farmers Market! ☀️🦆

We had a wonderful time bringing the Solar Duck Dash to the market alongside Olympia Community Solar and their local solar tour. It was a fun opportunity to connect with our community, answer questions about solar energy, and show how a little sunshine can send these ducks flying down the track!

In July our team staffed Solar Days at the Hands On Children's Museum! Toys like solar cars and "solar crickets" are a fun and interactive way of teaching kids how solar power works. We know how important it is to help teach kids about the many benefits of the sun and hopefully one day see themselves as part of the clean energy transition! 😎🌞🦗🚗🌱
