The ducks were racing and the sun was shining at the The Olympia Farmers Market! ☀️🦆

We had a wonderful time bringing the Solar Duck Dash to the market alongside Olympia Community Solar and their local solar tour. It was a fun opportunity to connect with our community, answer questions about solar energy, and show how a little sunshine can send these ducks flying down the track!

In July our team staffed Solar Days at the Hands On Children's Museum! Toys like solar cars and "solar crickets" are a fun and interactive way of teaching kids how solar power works. We know how important it is to help teach kids about the many benefits of the sun and hopefully one day see themselves as part of the clean energy transition! 😎🌞🦗🚗🌱

"If proposed rate increases are approved by the UTC, PSE would increase electric rates by 17% in January 2027 or $28.31 per month for the average household. Gas rates would increase by 13% in January 2027 or $13.63 per month for the average household."

PSE’s requested rate increase would guarantee PSE a profit margin of 10.8% over the next four years. Their current profit margin is 9.9%. The AG’s office instead urges the UTC to support a lower profit margin of 8.17%.

We oppose PSE’s plan to raise rates and collect an extra $3.396 billion from customers over the next three years. Under PSE’s proposal, the average customer would pay almost $30 more for electricity and $13 more for gas per month starting in January, with more increases coming in 2027 and 2028.

We need to fight to keep Washington affordable for everyone. PSE should only raise prices on consumers when necessary and reasonable, and we do not think that is the case here.

Its the final week of Solarize Bainbridge! Nearly 400 residents of Bainbridge Island have signed up for a free home assessment in the last 4 months because they're interested in reducing their energy bills (and their pollution).

It’s hard to believe its already been two years since the passing of South Sound Solar’s founder, Kirk Haffner, the Solar King of Thurston County. Kirk started South Sound Solar in 2007 from the back of his dining room and a bay of his carport. What he built became much more than a solar company. It became a team, a community presence, and a legacy we are proud to carry forward.

As South Sound Solar approaches 20 years, Kirk’s humor, determination, and heart are still felt in the work we do every day. We remain committed to honoring what he started, continuing to make him proud, and carrying his legacy forward for the next 20 years and beyond.

Forever missed and never forgotten. The difference he made in solar and throughout our community will be felt for generations.

The festival is a community event centered around Squaxin culture and connection to the area, public education, estuary restoration, environmental stewardship, and envisioning the future of a restored Deschutes Estuary. The City of Olympia is seeking multifamily properties to receive funding for new residential EV charging stations through a grant from Rocky Mountain Institute and General Motors. 🚗

Eligible properties with 5 or more housing units may qualify for:
Up to 100% funding for design, planning, engineering, and installation
Up to $25,000 per property
FREE technical assistance throughout the project
Interested? Submit your interest form by Friday, July 31 to be considered for funding.
