For over 100 years, the Kiwanis Club of Olympia has been working to improve the quality of life in Thurston County for all residents. From providing meals to school children during the Great Depression, to housing and holiday meals for members of the armed services, to college scholarships and leadership training opportunities for high school students, our Club has consistently worked to meet the

emerging needs of our changing times. Visit one of our regular Club meetings to learn more about how to become a part of this dynamic group of volunteers. We meet every Monday (except national holidays) at 12 pm. Ask me how you can join us because we are looking forward to seeing you there!

Great work by our amazing volunteers! Providing food security in these uncertain times! Thank you!

Thanks to everyone who came to one (or all three!) of the Kiwanis gardens that support the Thurston County Food Bank on Friday, September 26 for United Way of Thurston County's Day of Caring! Harvest in the gardens is in full swing; the gardens have reportedly produced 40,000 pounds of organic produce so far this season, and here's a photo of some of the many pounds of potatoes that Friday's volunteers helped process.

There is more need than ever for food security systems in our region.

USDA canceled a report that hunger-fighting organizations say was “essential” data to see the results of policies aimed at ending hunger.

📢 On October 1st, SNAP benefits will be cut, leaving families and individuals with less money for food.

The maximum SNAP benefit for a family of four in Washington is dropping from $975 to $848 per month. That’s the loss of almost $130 for groceries every single month.

With less money for food, we expect to see:
➡️ Longer lines
➡️ Higher demand
➡️ Emptier shelves

But together, we can step in where federal support falls short.

That's why we are launching our Neighbors Helping Neighbors Campaign from September 22nd through October 1st. Our community goal is to make up for these losses so that everyone has the food they need.
