2026 Chinese New Year Gala Announcement

Dear OACA members and friends,

The Olympia Area Chinese Association (OACA) is excited to host the annual Chinese New Year Gala on February 14, 2026. The door opens at 4:00 PM at Capital High School (2707 Conger Ave NW, Olympia)! The evening will feature a festive dinner and exciting performances. We warmly invite everyone to spread the word and join us in the celebration.

The Olympia Area Chinese Association (OACA) is hosting the 2025 Youth Environmental Awareness Art Contest with the theme “A Green Future Starts with Me”. Youth ages 5–18 can submit one of the following:

Artwork (clear theme, eco-conscious concepts)

Written pieces (essays, stories, interviews, opinion articles, or 3–5 min short videos)

Scientific research reports (PowerPoint or similar)

Entries will be judged in Elementary, Middle, and High School categories, with 1st–3rd place awards, certificates, and prizes. Submission deadline: Oct 5, 2025; Award ceremony: Oct 20, 2025. Email entries to [email protected].

奥林匹亚华人协会（OACA）将举办 2025 青少年环保意识艺术比赛，主题为 “绿色未来，从我做起”。5–18 岁青少年可提交以下其中一种作品：

艺术作品（主题鲜明，环保创意）

大小朋友齐上阵，合力清除入侵黑莓根，小朋友把挖出的根当"战利品"！

Kids & adults teamed up to remove invasive blackberry roots—some kids proudly kept their "trophies"!

2. 八段锦健康时刻 / Baduanjin Wellness Break

一位奶奶带领大家练习八段锦，连最活泼的孩子也安静下来感受传统养生。

A grandma guided the group in Baduanjin (八段锦), bringing calm and connection to all.

3. 植物交换惊喜 / Green Surprise Swap

从多肉到薄荷，参与者空手而来，满载而归，还结交了新朋友！

Succulents, herbs, and new friendships flourished at the plant swap table!

4. 野餐社交时光 / Pavilion Picnic & Stories

亭内美食茶香四溢，园艺爱好者们边吃边聊，共享绿意夏日。

Homemade snacks and plant stories sparked lively conversations under the pavilion.

**Stasch Rocky Woods自然教育中心盛大开幕**
**Stasch Rocky Woods Nature Education Center Grand Opening**

2025年6月21日，奥林匹亚华人协会（OACA）与中文学校共同参与了**Stasch Rocky Woods自然教育中心**的开幕活动。100多位社区成员在鸟语花香中欢聚，体验自然步道，增进情谊。
On June 21, 2025, the Olympia Area Chinese Association (OACA) and Chinese School participated in the grand opening of the **Stasch Rocky Woods Nature Education Center**. Over 100 community members gathered amid nature to explore trails and strengthen bonds.

家长和孩子们漫步新修建的自然步道，聆听溪流潺潺，沉浸于森林生态，亲身感受大自然的魅力。
Parents and children walked along the newly built nature trail, listening to the babbling creek while immersing themselves in the forest ecosystem.

LOTT Olympia is located next to the Hands On Children’s Museum and features its own Science Center. It’s a great place for both adults and students to learn about wastewater treatment, including how it impacts local marine life like oysters and clams.

LOTT Clean Water provides wastewater management services for the Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater areas, purifying water, recycling resources, and protecting public health and the environment. Students who haven’t visited before are especially encouraged to join and deepen their environmental awareness.

We’re thrilled to announce that our association’s HEAL (Healthy Environment for All) grant application to APCC has been approved! Special thanks to Xu Bin and Wang Shaojun for their outstanding contributions.

In the coming months, we’ll focus on three key initiatives:

Gardening Workshops – Hands-on activities to promote mental health, exercise, and eco-awareness.

Community Education & Engagement – Lectures on recycling and sustainable living.

Youth Leadership in Environmental Justice – Mentorship and creative platforms for teens to drive sustainability.
