Got out with some of the crew for the Thurston County Volunteer BBQ yesterday, and it was such a great reminder of how lucky we are to have so many incredible people willing to give their time, energy, and heart to our community. ❤️

There is something pretty special about getting together outside of the usual hustle and bustle, sharing some good food, lots of laughs, and simply taking a moment to appreciate the people who make a difference behind the scenes.

Volunteers don’t always get the recognition they deserve. They show up because they care about their neighbors, their community, the people and animals they serve, and making Thurston County a better place. It was so nice to celebrate them for a change!

Thank you to everyone who volunteers, gives their time, lends a hand, and continues to show up for our community. You are appreciated more than you know!

🔥 **Wildfire season is here!**🔥
Now is the perfect time to review your emergency evacuation plan.

📝 Having a plan in place **before** an emergency can make all the difference if evacuation notices are issued.

🟢 **Level 1 – Ready**

🚛 Prepare your truck and trailer.
🐴 Make sure your horses are ready to go.
🎒 Pack emergency supplies for both people and animals.

🟡 **Level 2 – Set**

✅ Have everything packed and ready to leave.
⏳ Evacuating horses takes time, and conditions can change quickly. Consider leaving during **Level 2** rather than waiting for **Level 3**.

🔴 **Level 3 – Go**

🚨 Leave immediately when directed by emergency officials. Don't delay!

🏇 Practice loading your horses before an emergency.
🤝 Make transportation arrangements if you need assistance.
📍 Identify a safe destination ahead of time.

❤️ We hope you never need your evacuation plan—but being prepared helps keep you, your horses, first responders, and your community safe.

Thank You to the Nisqually Indian Tribe Charitable Funds

On behalf of Thurston County Equine Outreach, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Nisqually Indian Tribe Charitable Funds for their generous grant that made the purchase of our new cargo trailer possible.

This trailer is much more than a piece of equipment—it is an investment in our mission to serve the equine community throughout Thurston County. It will be used for educational events, community outreach, emergency response efforts, clinics, and volunteer activities, helping us better serve both horses and the people who care for them.

Your generosity strengthens our ability to make a positive impact in our community, and we are deeply thankful for your commitment to supporting local organizations like ours. Because of your partnership, we are better equipped to continue promoting equine education, stewardship, and community involvement for years to come.

Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us move it forward—one trailer ride at a time.

With sincere appreciation,

Thurston County Equine Outreach
