A community outreach event, empowering young women to build confidence by providing mentorship and exploring different career options. Inspired by Camp Blaze, who’s vision is to empower, inspire, and support strong women leaders, this local 2-day girls' camp for ages 16-20 utilizes the skills of firefighting to encourage young women to push out of their comfort zones, take on new roles, learn new

skills, and bond with each other, all while providing mentorship from experienced firefighters.

Capital Metro Fire Girls Camp will consist of skills stations that encompass the basics of firefighting. From 7:30 am - 5:00 pm both days (with overnight accommodations provided if necessary for the camper), camp will take place the Mark Noble Regional Fire Training Center on Fones Road in Olympia.

🚓👊 Building Confidence Through Self-Defense 👊🚓

A huge thank you to the law enforcement officers and SWAT team members who joined us at Capital Metro Girls Fire Camp to lead our Self-Defense Station.

You not only demonstrated important skills, but also empowered our campers to protect themselves, trust their instincts, and move with confidence. 💪

🔥 It takes a team to make camp possible — and our instructors are the heart of it. 🔥

This weekend, an incredible group of women and men from across the fire service, and other partner agencies volunteered their time, skills, and energy to teach our campers everything from ladders to lifesaving. 🚒🚓🚁💪

Your passion, patience, and dedication inspire the next generation and show our campers what’s possible when you work hard, work together, and never stop learning.

🔥 Day 2 = Conquered! 🔥

Our final day of Capital Metro Girls Fire Camp was packed with challenges, courage, and unforgettable moments. Campers took on:
🪜 Aerial Ladder Climb – facing heights and building confidence
🧗 Rappelling – trusting the rope and themselves
🚪 Forcible Entry – breaking barriers with skill and strength
🚗 Auto Extrication – using tools to free trapped victims
⛑️ Medical: Stop the Bleed – learning how to save a life
🕵️ Search & Rescue – navigating smoke and darkness to find victims

Proud is an understatement — these campers showed up, worked hard, and left as stronger, more confident versions of themselves. 💪🔥

🔥 Day 1 = DONE! 🔥

What an incredible first day at Capital Metro Girls Fire Camp! Our campers jumped right into hands-on training and crushed every challenge we threw their way:
🚒 Hose Handling – mastering the lines and working as a team
🪚 Chainsaws – building confidence with powerful tools
👩‍🚒 PPE & Confidence Course – moving fast and strong in full gear
❤️ CPR – learning life-saving skills
🪜 Ladders – climbing higher, building trust in themselves
👊 Self-Defense with Law Enforcement – gaining tools to stay safe and confident

Our final “What to Expect at Camp” spotlight: RAPPELLING! 🧗‍♀️🔥

In the fire service, rappelling is used for rescues and accessing hard-to-reach areas. At camp, you’ll harness up, clip in, and learn to safely rappel with guidance from our skilled instructors. 💪🚒

It’s a mix of trust, courage, and adrenaline — and for many campers, it’s one of the most memorable parts of the weekend!

This wraps up our station sneak peeks… now it’s time to put it all into action. Camp is almost here! 🙌🔥

Next up in our “What to Expect at Camp” series: FORCIBLE ENTRY 🚪🔥

When every second counts, firefighters use forcible entry tools to get through locked doors, gates, or obstacles to reach people who need help.

At camp, you’ll learn to use tools like the irons (Halligan + axe) and the rotary saw to break through barriers — just like on a real fire scene. 💪👩‍🚒

This station is all about technique, teamwork, and the feeling of breaking through limits — literally and figuratively.

Get ready to swing, cut, and pry with purpose. 🔥

Next up in our “What to Expect at Camp” series: CHAINSAWS! 🪓🔥

Firefighters use chainsaws for critical tasks like cutting through roofs, walls, and trees to make rescues possible. At camp, you’ll get the chance to safely handle and operate a chainsaw — building confidence with power tools and learning why this skill is so important in the fire service. 💪🚒

It’s loud, it’s powerful, and it’s one of our campers’ favorite stations every year!

🔥 Campers — here’s what you need to know for the day of camp! 🔥

We want you to feel prepared, comfortable, and ready to take on every challenge at Capital Metro Girls Fire Camp! 👩‍🚒💪

✅ What to Wear:
• Crew-style socks that go over the calf
• Leggings or long shorts (NO denim!)
• Sunscreen

✅ What to Bring:
• Extra hair ties if you have long hair
• Any medications you take during the day
• Specific snacks for dietary needs (lunch & snacks are provided)
• Change of clothes for the ride home

💧 Every camper receives a water bottle to refill throughout the day, and tampons/pads are stocked in all bathrooms for your convenience.
