■We believe that injustice must be challenged and that human rights and resistance to oppression “must be included in the way we define ourselves as a community.”
■We believe that education for justice and peace is a basic skill that must be universally nurtured.
■While supporting the advancement of human rights and social, economic, and environmental justice for all, we will emphasize efforts to

alleviate the burden on women and children, who too often suffer the most.
■We are committed to the principles and practice of non-violence and to their advancement as means of effecting change.
■We view art, the written word, and other forms of creative expression as valuable tools for building understanding, respect and appreciation for differences and cooperation between peoples. We value and seek creative, and even unconventional, approaches to problems.
■We agree with Rachel that it is important to make commitments to people and places. We will continue the commitment to Rafah that she initiated and intended to maintain.

On behalf of the Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice

We were deeply saddened to learn about the killings of 19 people on April 19th by the military of the Philippines, two U.S. Citizens among them. One of those killings, that of 26-year-old Kai Sorem, hits especially close to home; Kai was from Steilacoom, Washington, not far from where Rachel was born and raised.

We call for a thorough, transparent and credible investigation by the U.S. government into the killings of two U.S. citizens by a foreign military.

Our hearts go out to all those grieving, and most especially to Kai’s family and friends.

With sorrow,
Cindy and Craig Corrie

This week, Israeli strikes on residential buildings in Gaza killed and injured at least 11 Palestinians, setting homes on fire and leaving widespread destruction. In the West Bank, more land is being stolen and more homes are being destroyed. In Lebanon, more than a million people have been displaced and in this week’s Israeli airstrikes, several have been killed and injured.

It’s Ceasefire first, then lift the siege, then end the occupation then Free Palestine.

Join us at our weekly Olympia peace vigil on Friday as we continue to advocate and stand together for peace, a permanent ceasefire, an arms embargo, and justice for Palestine.

For information and regular updates about conditions in Gaza and the West Bank, follow the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs for the Occupied Palestinian Territories at https://www.ochaopt.org

Thank you to the Olympia Fellowship of Reconciliation for organizing these vigils and welcoming us all. Please respect the peaceful and welcoming spirit that FOR has maintained at these weekly gatherings for so many years.

Palestinians across Gaza marked Eid al-Adha prayers amongst rubble and destruction as Israeli attacks continued across the enclave. Families mourned loved ones at cemeteries, while funerals were held for victims killed in strikes that continued into the hours before the day of Eid.

Except for the sounds of takbirs (calls to prayer) emanating from refugee camps, or from cars, the first Eid al-Adha since the October “ceasefire” in Gaza passed with almost no scenes of celebration.

People are immersed in extreme poverty and unrelenting loss, struggling to piece together shattered lives, which Israel has obliterated over the course of two years.

It’s Ceasefire first, then lift the siege, then end the occupation then Free Palestine.

Join us at our weekly Olympia peace vigil on Friday as we continue to advocate and stand together for peace, a permanent ceasefire, an arms embargo, and justice for Palestine.

Due to the weather last week, we couldn’t install our display of Nakba tents that represent villages destroyed during the Nakba of 1948. We will have those tents up this week so please join us and walk through the installation this Friday.

Today, we welcome the news that 428 flotilla members have been released from detention in Israel and are being sent to Istanbul. They were illegally intercepted by the Israeli military in international waters on May 18 and 19, they were subjected to horrific criminal treatment. The Israeli government proudly posted evidence of these heinous crimes online.

Palestinians are subjected to such cruelty on even more unfathomable scales every day. Systemic torture, medical neglect, sexual assault, including r*pe, and other crimes against humanity occur on a daily basis. At least 10,000 Palestinian hostages, including children, are being subjected to these abuses on a daily basis.

It’s Ceasefire first, then lift the siege, then end the occupation then Free Palestine.

Join us at our weekly Olympia peace vigil on Friday as we continue to advocate and stand together for peace, a permanent ceasefire, an arms embargo, and justice for Palestine.

Due to the weather last week, we couldn’t install our display of Nakba tents that represent villages destroyed during the Nakba of 1947-48. We will have those tents up this week so please join us and walk through the installation this Friday.

Today, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (MI-12) re-introduced the resolution Recognizing the Ongoing Nakba and Palestinian Refugees’ Rights.

May 15, 2026, marks the 78th anniversary of the Nakba. The Nakba, which means “catastrophe” in Arabic, refers to the mass expulsion and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their homes and homeland during the creation of the state of Israel (1947-49). The Nakba did not end in 1948, but continues to this day as Israeli forces continue to commit genocide in Gaza and dispossess Palestinians across all of Palestine.

“The Nakba never ended. Today, the Israeli apartheid regime is committing genocide in Gaza, violently erasing entire communities across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, and bombing Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. It is a campaign to erase Palestinians from existence,” said Congresswoman Tlaib. “War criminal Netanyahu and his cabinet have repeatedly threatened to ethnically cleanse the entire Palestinian population in Gaza, annex the land, and permanently occupy it. Today, they are extending these same threats towards southern Lebanon. As we mark the 78th anniversary of the Nakba, we honor all of those killed since the ethnic cleansing of Palestine began and all those who have been forced from their homes and violently displaced from their land. This immense trauma, including the loss of their loved ones and connections to the communities they grew up in, needs to be repaired. True peace must be built on justice and the inalienable right of return for Palestinian refugees.”

The Israeli government also continues the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians through illegal settlements and segregated communities in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the destruction of Palestinian homes and seizure of agricultural land, the revocation of residency rights, and the denial of the internationally recognized legal right of return of millions of Palestinian refugees. The United States is an accomplice in the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, providing endless funding and weapons.

Congresswoman Tlaib’s resolution commemorates the 78th anniversary of the Nakba and promotes better education and understanding of this well-documented history. The resolution also calls on Congress to reinstate support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which provides live-saving humanitarian assistance to Palestinian refugees.
