Have you thought about going back to school, but just want to do the fun field trip part? You can do just that by volunteering for the Puget Sound Estuarium, and helping with our K-12 field trips!

1) Fill out the online application
2) We'll send you a background check
3) Attend our new volunteer orientation, Friday September 11th 6-7:30pm

We'll get your trained up from there to make sure you are good and ready.

If you are within the age range of 15-24 and have a passion to create environmental change, we can sponsor you as part of the Youth Climate Action Fund! The City of Olympia is funding $5,000 grants for youth-led climate projects during the 2026-2027 school year.

Your project must achieve one of these goals :
- Protect the environment
- Improve local habitats
- Build community stewardship
- Raise climate awareness

If you are interested and have an idea related to marine science and estuary studies, please reach out and we could sponsor you!

Join us for our last Sea Stroll of the season! The Puget Sound Estuarium and Deschutes Estuary Restoration Team take a journey through time and nature you won't want to miss! Estuaries play a vital role in our ecosystems health, and has been central in shaping Olympia today.

This is a 2-hour, approx. 1.5 mile walking tour, with some rest stops and bathrooms along the way. Learn about geologic events, Native peoples, Olympia oysters, industrialization of our estuary and future restoration!

The plankton exhibit is sticking around through September! There's so much more to learn about these tiny but vast creatures! This free-flowing critters create the base of the food web, produce the oxygen we breath, and much more. Come take a look and learn more about the plankton in our local waters.
