Have you ever wondered what volunteering as a Pizza Klatch Facilitator is like? Here's a walk-through of a typical klatch!
1. First, you'll pick up the pizza from our partner restaurant (in many cases, the pizza is delivered, but sometimes it is a pickup).
2. Head to the school! You'll check in at the front office, where the staff will be expecting you. If the pizza is delivered, here is where you will pick it up. You will also meet your co-facilitator here!
3. You and your co-facilitator proceed to the room set aside by the school for Pizza Klatch. There will be a crate there with napkins, plates, and some paper for posting the group agreements.
4. When students arrive, welcome them in and help them get a slice and find a seat.
5. The general klatch format goes like this: In a circle, each student shares their name, pronouns, and a high and a low of their week. We try to make time at the end for students to share a little more if they want to as well. Facilitators help keep the process moving.
6. When the lunch period is over, students leave and the crate is packed up and put away. Sign out in the office and you are done for the day!
