Olympia Rotary Club

Olympia Rotary Club Welcome to the Rotary Club of Olympia. It is also the largest club, boasting over 160 active members. Members actively participate in over 40 committees.

We are 130 members strong and in 2020, celebrated 100 years of involvement in Olympia and the greater Thurston County area. Chartered in 1920 with 25 original members, the Olympia Rotary Club is the oldest of the six Rotary clubs in the greater Olympia area. We host two major community fund raising events each year - the Spaghetti Bowl and the Jazz Festival. The Spaghetti Bowl is a pre-game dinner

, hosted jointly each September with the West Olympia Rotary Club. It is held immediately before the annual cross town rivalry football game between the Olympia Bears and the Capital Cougars. Funds raised are used for college scholarships for high school students. The Jazz Festival is held in November at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, and features jazz bands from the local area. It also features a wine and beer tasting event in the evening. Funds raised go to fund musical instruments for local school students and the Rotary clean water project in Malawi, Africa. We typically meet at Noon on Mondays at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia.

Today, our presenter was Ronit Vaid, a junior from Olympia High School, representing the YMCA Youth and Government (YAG). The wisdom he shared about his experience was beyond his years. To quote Ronit, "In programs like YAG, we spend a lot of time debating- not arguing. Arguing is about winning but debating is about understanding."
