Important Notice: Dyed Diesel

The recent federal announcement regarding dyed diesel tax relief does not change Washington State law or fuel tax requirements.

At this time, Washington’s current laws and requirements regarding the use of dyed diesel on public highways remain in effect. Untaxed dyed diesel may not be used on Washington public roads unless otherwise authorized under Washington law.

The federal announcement does not automatically change Washington’s fuel tax or IFTA reporting requirements. Washington will provide additional information if state laws or requirements change.

States that are making temporary changes are doing so on a very limited basis and a shorter timeline than what is outlined and under consideration at the Federal level. There is no indication that Washington State will follow suit. WTA is in touch with agency partners and will provide updated information when available.

For more information on using dyed diesel in Washington, please visit the Department of Licensing’s Dyed Diesel webpage.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week wrapped up last week, but our appreciation for professional truck drivers doesn’t end there.

WTA celebrated by providing lunches to drivers at Ports of Entry in Spokane, Cle Elum, and Ridgefield. It was an opportunity to thank the hardworking men and women who spend countless hours on the road, keep our shelves stocked, support our businesses, and ensure essential goods reach communities across Washington and throughout the country.

Thank you to the sponsors, volunteers, and partners who helped make these lunches possible—and to the professional drivers who keep our state and economy moving.

Here are a few highlights from the week! 🚛
