Educators, what books are you looking forward to reading this summer? Are you going to read about pedagogy and classroom management, or are you going to seek escape in mysteries and romances? Maybe you are someone who reads long, detailed books about niche historical periods, or you prefer the literary company of people losing it completely. Give us some recommendations of all of those and anything else you're looking forward to!

In case you missed it, CSTP has collaborated with schools, districts, and the WEA to create four videos about Student Growth Goal best practices! Practitioners from across the state highlight tools, practices, and strategies for implementing student growth goals that are making a positive impact on both teachers and students. Watch them with your team for collaborative conversations and learning. Hear from Lake Washington School District, WEA, Summit Virtual Academy, and Spokane Public Schools. Find the series on our YouTube channel or on our website under Resources.

As the weather continues to get brighter and the temperatures warmer, how do all of our educators handle the last few weeks of the school year? Do you open a window and hope for airflow? Do you try to take any classes outside? Are all of your words being drowned out by a series of giant box fans? Let us know! Happy June to everyone, students and teachers alike, working away in our schools.

Happy Pride month from CSTP! This is a time to celebrate the history, diversity, and significance of the LGBTQ+ community in Washington and worldwide. We recognize their place, rights, and importance to community and culture. Q***r history is an inextricable part of the arts, of science, of performance; of resistance, of resilience, and protest; of inclusion, visibility, and acceptance. Pride month is about coming together, but also celebrating all of our differences: le***an, gay, bisexual, trans, nonbinary, intersex, and everyone else between or outside or within. We give thanks to all those who came before and all those who are out there today advocating, fighting, and simply living lives. Happy Pride, everyone.

Educators, the end is in sight! May, by and large, is the last full month of the 2025-26 school year. For all those educators who are looking at their last two or three weeks of school in June, good luck to you to sustain the rigor and engagement in your classroom--and we don't just mean for the students. Who hasn't caught themselves staring wistfully out the window as the season continues to change? Whether you're on the East side looking forward to the Sun or the West enjoying your warm rains, CSTP wishes you a happy last stretch of the school year!

As we begin to reach the end of series of Culturally Responsive Education Residencies, we'd like to share some educator feedback from this year! We are already looking forward to next year. "I really appreciated the time for collaboration and conversation with my colleagues while we layered in our new learning." "While I am still new to teaching, I feel like this training has helped me create more meaningful lessons that consider the backgrounds of our diverse learners." "You have changed my life as a teacher." We can't ask for better praise than that. Thanks to Dr. Stembridge for his incredible work. Get in contact with our team if you want to bring a CRE Residency to your district!

Memorial Day is a day to remember those who gave their lives in the service of the US military. It was first observed in the 1860s as a day of remembrance of those lost from the Union army during the American Civil War. Through the 20th century, it was further expanded to honor those who fought and died in World War I and II. In the late 1960s, congress officially declared that Memorial Day would be observed yearly on the last Monday in May in honor of anyone who fought and died in military service. Let us remember all of those we have lost, from Washington and beyond.

For many teachers, state testing week is nearly here or upon us already! As you proctor tests or wait for your students to get back from another teacher's proctoring, answer some "Would you rather...?" questions about your own testing preferences. Here is another one for you: Would you rather proctor the test multiple times a week, or have to take it only once?
