MUST HAVE COLUMBIA RIVER ENDORSEMENT

Fishing will be trolling, all gear is provided and the trip is FREE.

Open to all vets and active duty military (proof of service will be verified) and you must have/obtain a valid fishing license.

OFOH is looking at implementing a strict no show/no communications policy.

We have been bombarded with veterans who sign up for events and then either no show or fail to communicate with us once chosen, or delete their name after being selected.
Bottom line is veterans are failing to communicate/show up and each one of you that does it costs a volunteer an hour of their time, sometimes longer. It also robs veterans of the possibility of a seat on a trip or in a class they desperately want or need for their mental health. As we pay guides for seats it also wastes our funds.

We are drafting up a SOP that once completed will impose 6 months or longer, up to permanent blocking of our services.

We understand that life happens and are willing to discuss any possible future actions we take on a case-by-case basis. BUT BOTTOM LINE IS IF YOU FAIL TO COMMUNICATE Don’t be surprised at the actions we take. And yes, will share our blacklist with other nonprofits if asked or the need arises.

We do NOT enjoy that we have to do this but those veterans that are causing us issues will be dealt with, as you are causing volunteer burn out.

If you are not one of the PROBLEM veterans than THANK YOU!

If you are one problems, then your time is limited before you get blacklisted.

It’s a shame we have to consider such actions but we don’t know another way to minimize the problem.

OFOH is offering a FREE Mental Health class for veterans, first responders, Gold Star families, and adult family members OVER AGE 16. This class is ideal for veterans, their families, first responders and anyone who works with veterans. OFOH takes a progressive, hands-on approach to trying to reduce the average of 22 veterans who take their own lives every day: by connecting veterans through fishing, fishing rod-building classes, and hunting experiences. Research shows that hobbies and outdoor activities can play a powerful role in PTSD recovery and su***de prevention.

Date: August 23rd SUNDAY
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Limited to 12 participants.
