Thank you for supporting our fall plant sale! We are glad to offer hard-to-find plants to community members that ultimately support local ecosystems, conserve water resources, and rebuild pollinator/wildlife habitats. These biannual sales also support all the operational funding for our hands-on educational activities and field-based conservation demonstration projects.

Haven't had a chance to browse our online store? The sale closes in 24 hours, at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27th, so place your order soon!

What should you plant in an area that is mostly full sun? Here are some suggestions based on what we currently have in stock, including a few options that are also great for part shade! These are all native species or water-wise plants (cultivars/ non-native plants that do well in our area and don’t require additional water or chemicals). The store is on our website.

Do you have a shady spot in your landscape? Here are some lovely native and water-wise species (cultivars or non-native plants that do well in our area and don’t require additional water or chemicals) that love or tolerate shade. And they are all available in our online plant sale!

Our online native & water-wise sale launches on Sunday, September 20. Our team has worked tirelessly over many years, and especially over the past few months, to get ready. To get a sneak peek at what we'll be offering, preview the plant list on our website. Some of those species are shown in the image above. We promise there is something for every garden and landscape project!

As a reminder, our online sale will be open from noon on September 20 until 6 p.m. on September 27. Many plants sell out quickly, so add a reminder to your calendar!

Want to plant a nice surprise in your garden for next year?đŸŒºConsider our bright and cheery native goldenrod, Solidago lepida (canadensis), known commonly as Western Canadian Goldenrod. It might not look like much this time of year, but get it in the ground this fall, let it establish, and be rewarded with a big payoff: a commanding, sun-loving perennial (up to 5 feet tall) with a burst of vibrant yellow flowers from late summer into fall. Pollinators will love its blooms. Other small wildlife will love the habitat it provides. You’ll love that it’s great for beginner gardeners and can tolerate drought.

And if you want a goldenrod that's a little shorter (about 2-3 feet tall), check out our salebrosa variety of this plant. Get either soon at our week-long online plant sale, which launches at noon on Sunday, September 20. Find details on our website.

Wild Ginger (Asarum caudatum) is a darling native evergreen groundcover beloved for its heart-shaped leaves, pairing nicely with other understory plants, and offering a beautiful contrast to finer-textured ferns. In time, it forms a low, lush, and fragrant carpet, rewarding curious arthropods and gardeners alike in spring with unique, otherworldly flowers that hide beneath the leaves. Shade is a must for this plant, but it will grow in dry or moist soils, ideally amended with compost or naturally humus-rich.

Pair it with other shade-loving woodland plants, such as Vanilla-leaf (Achlys triphylla), Athyrium filix-femina (Lady fern), or Star-flowered false-Solomon’s seal (Maianthemum stellatum), which will also be available during our online Fall plant sale, which will be open from noon on September 20th until 6 p.m. on September 27th.

16 days until...our 2026 online fall plant sale! We'll be offering hundreds of gorgeous native plants and interesting specialties. Mark your calendars so you don't miss out!

What to expect:
About 1 week before the sale opens, we will publish a plant list on our website of what we expect to offer. The sale itself will be live from Sunday, September 20th at noon until Sunday, September 27th at 6:00 p.m., with pickups between October 2nd and October 4th (alternative pickup arrangements possible) at our nursery ~10 miles south of Downtown Olympia, Washington. We'll include our address in confirmation emails.

In the meantime, browse our plant sale FAQs, sign up to volunteer before and/or during the sale, give a loved one a gift certificate they can use during the sale, or spend time planning your landscape using our Naturescaping course! All are found on the webpage below!
