Domestic Violence Awareness Month & World Homeless Day

Domestic violence and homelessness are closely connected. In the 2025 Thurston County Point-in-Time Count, 216 people experiencing homelessness reported fleeing domestic violence, intimate partner violence, or trafficking. That is about 21% of the counted homeless population in our county.

The true number is likely even higher as many survivors go uncounted due to fear, safety concerns, and challenges in tracking their situations.

Resource Round Up: Hope Plaza Plaza Esperanza

Hope Plaza is a multilingual, intergenerational community hub in Shelton dedicated to supporting underserved minorities and low-income households. Through culturally-relevant services, including education, food assistance, mental health care, housing support, childcare, and advocacy, they strive to ensure that everyone in the community can thrive with dignity, connection, and opportunity!

They have an upcoming Resource Fair on Tuesay, October 13th from 3:00pm-6:00pm at the United Methodist Church in Shelton.

Gather at the Hands On Children's Museum with other parents who want the best for their little ones and get the kind of non-judgmental, parent affirming support you need.

Infant Feeding and Postpartum Support Group meets every Thursday at the Hands on Children's Museum from 10:15am-11:45am.

Coordinated Entry has walk-in hours throughout the community for those who are experiencing homelessness.

Today, CE is located at the Thurston County Resource Hub from 12:00pm-4:00pm.

Tomorrow, walk-ins will be at the following locations:
- Franklin St Harm Reducation, 9:00am-11:00am
- Veteran's Hub, 10:00am-2:00pm
- NTPS Family Youth Resource Center, 1:00pm-3:00pm
