Olympia Community Sailing

Olympia Community Sailing fosters strong youth sailing programs and strives to create an inclusive sailing community in Thurston County.

We host nationally-competitive youth race teams and learn-to-sail classes for students of all ages! The Olympia Community Sailing High School Sailing Team is comprised of high school students from the Olympia, Tumwater and Lacey area and sponsored by the Olympia Yacht Club. We practice 2 - 3 days per week in the spring and fall and travel to regattas throughout the northwest.

Come join us on June 13th for the Explora Budd event! OCS is excited to be a part of the second iteration of this event, providing free sailboat rides to individuals of all ages and experience levels. Come find us at Port Plaza from 11am-2pm for yummy food, fun STEM activities and boating.

Thank you to all our incredible volunteers who came together this weekend to build a fence for our new facility!

We are now in the process of painting our shipping containers and will soon be ready to start moving boats and gear into the new space.

Ready to hit the water but too young for our Youth Learn-to-Sail series? Harbor Mice Summer Camps are especially built for our youngest sailors, ages 6 and 7. Each camp is focused on helping sailors have fun, build confidence, become comfortable with being on the water and experience the joys of sailing.

Our Teen Sailing Camps are back and better than ever! This summer we are running two sessions of our Teen Learn-to-Sail series starting with a week each of beginner and intermediate skills and concepts and wrapping-up each session with a week dedicate just to racing. These camps are a great fit for those just learning or for experienced sailors seeking opportunities to warm-up for the fall season.

Ocean Explorers Summer Camp is back! Like our new Keelboat Adventure Camps, Ocean Explorers learn about sailing on a larger vessel than our other learn-to-sail camps. There is time on the water each day assisting the instructor in sailing, exploring hands-on STEAM activities and engaging in citizen science opportunities. A truly unique and unforgettable summer experience!

Join us on our J24 keelboats for an adventurous week of sailing and exploring Budd Inlet! Sailors of any skill level will join instructors on our boats to learn the basics of sailing including rigging, steering, and proper sail trim, without the risk of capsizing. Our keelboats are able to go further than some of our smaller boats and sailors will get to explore more of the inlet than our other camps.
