2012-2013 Meeting Scheduled update:
Meetings are held at Olympia Senior Center at the corner of Columbia & State in Olympia WA. The following info is our new scheduled: Hei Finnish Heritage Group!

There will be a new time for our Saturday meetings starting in September due to Olympia City Parks budget cuts. The new time at the Community Center will be 10 am to noon.

Here is the schedule -- I wanted to reserve the room. We can change it later if necessary:

2012:
September 22, 10-noon
October 13, 27 10-noon
November 10, 10-noon
No meeting Thanksgiving weekend
December - Christmas Party

2013:
January 12, 26, 10-noon
February Ethnic Celebration (I think it will be the 2nd) February 23 10-noon March 9, 23 10-noon April 13, 27 10-noon May 11, 10-noon No meeting Memorial Day weekend June 8, 10-noon October 12, 26, 10-noon November 9, 10-noon

Attention Finn's & Friends! The Olympia Finnish Heritage Group Social/Business Meeting is scheduled for 3/12 @ 2p - 4p at the Downtown Olympia Senior Center. You are welcome to join us and share your Finnish experiance and stories.
And don't for get St. Urho's Day is March 16th - we will be sharing stories of this Finnish holiday at our meeting this Saturday. See you there!

The Language Meeting scheduled for 2/26 was cancelled due to an unexpected issue. We expect to have our next meeting known as the Business/Social meeting on 3/12@ 2p at the Downtown Olympia Senior Center.

Hello all, just giving a short but much needed update.
Chrissy Pidone will be hosting the Olympia Finnish Heritage Group Chrismas Party on Sunday 12/19/10 @ 12n - 4p at the Lacey Park Apartments Community building. This summer we are planning a Finnish Pot-luck in very late July. I will update you further as we finalize the plans.

On the 2nd Saturday we call the 'Business Meeting' where we discuss our heritage, the culture, Finnish Movies and sometimes special speakers too!
On the 4th Saturday we have a 'Language Lesson'. This is a loose lesson of the Finnish Language. Some are learning for the first time and some trying to remember.

The Group

We Meet from the early Fall to Late Spring every 2nd and 4th Saturday at the Downtown Olympia Senior Center from 2p - 4p. Occasionally we will have field trips and events through out the year. I will do my best to keep you posted of these events.

I would like to welcome you to this new page and invite you to our group meetings and events.Of course this page is still under construction and will be further updated.Please understand I myself am just learning about the Finnish Culture and am in no way an expert on Finland or the Finnish Culture. I just have an interest in my heritage, different cultures, and the company ain't bad ether!
