PHASE TWO RAINWATER CATCHMENT TANKS (RCTs) PROJECT UPDATE
Makhwabuye, Chegulo & Sheywe Dispensaries
We are delighted to share the progress of our Phase Two RCTs Water Project at Makhwabuye, Chegulo and Sheywe dispensaries.
Great work is ongoing! As you can see from the photo, painting works are currently in progress and the tanks are looking beautiful. This will be followed by plumbing works in readiness for the official handing over to the Dispensaries

PHASE FOUR RCTs CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Exciting progress at Shikusa, Buyangu and Ileho Dispensaries!
We have reached a key milestone in our Rainwater Collection Tanks project:
- [ ] WALLING: 100% COMPLETE- All three tanks have been walled to full height.
- [ ] RING BEAM: FIXED & CAST- Formwork fixed and concrete casting done
These tanks will provide clean and reliable water to support healthcare services and improve WASH at our facilities. 🏥

CONFINEMENT IS NOT THE END OF POTENTIAL. IT CAN BE THE BEGINNING OF A NEW SKILL.
At Friendly Water,we believe that every young person, regardless of their past, deserves a second chance and a practical skill for the future.
We are truly privileged to collaborate and partner with Shikusa Borstal Institution to train the young men at the institution on how to build a rainwater catchment tank at Shikusa Dispensary using Interlocking Soil Stabilized Blocks (ISSB).
From mixing, to laying the interlocking blocks, to understanding water conservation - these students are not just building a tank. They are building discipline, teamwork, self-worth, and a marketable skill they can use to transform their communities when they rejoin society.
What you see in the photos is more than masonry. It is hope, rehabilitation, and restoration in action.
Thank you to the management of Shikusa Borstal Institution for opening your doors and for believing in reformation through skills.
Together, we are turning second chances into water solutions.

We are delighted to announce that we have successfully completed all masonry works for the Rainwater Catchment tanks at Makhwabuye, Sheywe and Chegulo Dispensaries.
This is a major milestone in our quest to ensure clean and reliable water supply for our health facilities. The tanks are now structurally complete and ready for the next phase of curing and final installations.
We thank the community, the facility management, and our dedicated team of Masons for their commitment and hard work.

GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY AT SHIKUSA DISPENSARY – PHASE IV RCT CONSTRUCTION
We successfully held the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Rainwater Collection Tanks (RCTs) under Phase Four at Shikusa, Buyangu and Ileho Dispensaries.
The ceremony at Shikusa Dispensary was graced by the Officer In-Charge of Shikusa Borstal Institution, Dispensary staff, Community Health Promoters, community members and our construction team.
In a special gesture of partnership and rehabilitation, the Officer In-Charge humbly requested that three students from Shikusa Borstal Institution be granted an opportunity to join our masons on site to learn masonry and life skills.We gladly welcomed the request – transforming this project into not just an infrastructure development, but also a platform for skills transfer and second chances.
Foundation excavation and footing has already started!
We thank the Shikusa community and the Borstal Institution for the great collaboration.

PROJECT UPDATE: MUTINGONGO & MALEKHA DISPENSARIES
Day 8 - 12 | Water Tank Construction
Progress is good in both facilities:
1. Wall Plastering:
- [ ] First rough plastering done inside and outside the tank.
- [ ] Second smooth / waterproof plastering (nil) done inside to prevent leakage.
2. Roof Works:
- [ ] Roof reinforcement and formwork completed with manhole opening provided.
- [ ] Roof casting done and external plastering finished.
Next Step:Curing and final finishing before installation of gutters and water collection system.
Both tanks are now at 95% structural completion.
