08/22 FOUND POODLE
W VALLEY HWY N & KNICKERBOCKER DR, AUBURN

Over 2 weeks ago, 5 different Poodles were found in the same exact area that this girl was often seen and in the same body condition.

AVHS and Auburn ACO have been trying to get help for this likely abandoned girl to get her safe and off the roads.
We were contacted on Thursday to see if we could help. We spoke to Jessie, a nearby resident, that has been feeding her for a number of days and found that she has been leaving food about 3:30 everyday and the pup usually shows between 4-7 PM. So plans were made to make the drive today because of the time and another case near the Capitol Campus in Olympia.
Upon arrival, immediately set up the trap in the area of the established feeding station. While standing by the trap getting ready to set cameras but checking battery and settings of the cameras gues who I see walking down the side of the highway and then turn onto the street where the trap is located? It is her and coming my way! 😱
I immediately jump in my car to vacate the area, drive the only direction I can, into a driveway, and leave the cameras on top of the trap facing the blue sky!! Cameras are not set but I can see the area where the trap is located. So I hop out, position myself at he end of the car, laying down on the ground, and place my phone in an area where I can hold my phone out to record but without the pup seeing me.
Well, when she got to the trap, it was pretty much a quickie. She smelled around and then just walked on in. Unfortunately though, I did not get a recording of the last few seconds after she hit the drop plate to make the door shut. It figures. 🤬😭😬🤬
Importantly though, she is safe and won't be making her daily numerous walks along West Valley Hwy.
She is not in the greatest condition missing much hair, severely matted, too skinny, and really stinky. The hair that is loose definitely does not feel like a Poodle should.
She is currently with Sumner Vet and will likely be transferred to AVHS on Monday.
Thanks to Jessie and her neighbors for feeding her and letting her feel safe and unthreatened.
Thanks also to Diane Radford who met me at the vet to return a camera we used for another case. She then stayed for quite a bit to assist with transferring out of the car to get inside the vet clinic.

08/23 a bit more information has been sent since getting this guy off the streets.
An organization that provides assistance to others provided the collar and the harness for this older puppy and are not sure he was with his owner.
They have also seen this pup with different people over the last several weeks.
Although a bit shy at first, this guy was very quick to like other people. He also has the most beautiful colored eyes. ❤️
He is at JAS now.

This pup has been reported as being seen roaming for a couple of weeks.
We first heard about it about a week ago from Gary & Elizabeth Curtin Hayes. Gary had been on a walk when he saw this pup dart into some bushes by the garden on Capitol Campus. The pup had found the food and water left for him but decided it was too scary to stay in the area because of all the visitors and demolition of the GA Building.
So a few days later, it was reported that he was seen near the train tracks around Capitol Lake on Powerhouse Rd SW.
Gary went walking again and he saw this youngin' as well. He and Elizabeth moved the feeding station down near the Swing Wine Bar.
D.D. went to the area a few hours later to do a bit more set up and the pup was up and moving and then found the feeding station but got spooked by an employee going out to take a break.
So a trap was set with all the yummies and not long after, he came to investigate. He made several visits going in a bit further each time but the parking area was still a bit too busy for his liking.
So after the last employee left from the Swing Bar at 10:15 PM, this guy returned and made the parking area his own and then entered the trap. At first, he didn't like that the door had shut on him, but only took seconds for him to realize more yummy food was coming and almost immediately after eating some more, laid down and shut his eyes.
On a somewhat entertaining note and after all was set up for recovery, the pup could be heard down the embankment moving around. D.D. called Elizabeth & Gary to not only let them know that all was set but that the pup was up and moving again. That call lasted 2.5 hours because the pup almost immediately climbed up the embankment and was within view. They got the entire play-by-play of all the activity, cars, the customers, and employees until the very end indicating "we got him." 🩷🐾💚
Elizabeth & Gary are "cat people" and were referred to us by other "cat people" being Feline Friends of Olympia WA. They took such great concern, time, energy and investment in trying to help this guy and their efforts are so appreciated! This guy is safe because of them. ❤️🐾❤️

Frank and his family were celebrating a birthday on Sunday and were up exploring on a side-by-side on a trail when they saw this pup. The pup ran. They followed in hopes of catching or to see if an owner may be in the area and might be injured. They followed for quite a way with no luck.
Frank met with D.D. the next day to show the area and to set a monitored feeding station.
Later that night, a possum said oh no you don't, I have no intention of being watched by a stranger. So the camera got moved and was now laying face up under several fern leaves.
Now we won't be able to see what is traveling on this trail let alone if any animal eats the food which is about 50' feet away! Well surprise, surprise, surprise but at about 4:00 AM, the pup shows up to further investigate the camera and we are able to get enough of a fuzzy photo that the dog is still there and we can assume found the food since not one morsel is left.
Because of the location being only available to us by foot and because of cats, bear, and coyotes, Naomi McGivney jumped right in and offered to help trek the equipment into the woods with the muddy, deep ruts and up and down terrain. We also planned on a Night Watch with hopes the pup would show again and find the higher value yummies in the trap.
The pup did not disappoint and did show at nearly the same time as the night before. At 3:42 AM, those big eyes came to the trap and sniffed around and only a minute later, s/he was safe.

Thanks also to Chris Jackson and Carolyn Armstrong for being available to assist if needed.
Thank you to Frank for caring and assisting with getting this pup safe.
Thanks to Gary and Paloma Elmore for coming at such an inconvenient time to come and assist in helping to get that pup and equipment out of the woods and safely loaded.
And an always thank you to Naomi for always doing what it takes no matter the time or day.

Well this is not going to help to see if the dog in Capitol Forest finds the feeding station. 😭

VERY EARLY AM UPDATE:
4:17 AM in spite of the camera being knocked over and not facing or near the feeding station, the dog came to check it out!! 😱

08/18 UPDATE: This sweet girl is no longer on stray hold and being prepped for adoption.
08/15 UPDATE: We have now heard from a couple of others that she had also been seen on I5 South the day before.
08/14 FOUND
running with leash attached on shoulder of I5 South bit heading North just after MP 105. 😱😳🫣😬

OMFG, this just happened an hour ago and hearts are still pounding.💓
We received a message this morning from Michelle that at 5:45 AM a gray Bully was on the median and shaking on I5 South near the 2nd Ave exit. A couple volunteers went to search but did not see any dog.
Then at 7:30 PM, Judi sent a message just as D.D. was leaving Costco that there was a gray dog tied to the I5 South guardrail just before Capitol Lake. She went flying down the autobahn to find the pup was running North on the shoulder. Just as she stopped to get out, 2 WSP Officers pulled over a ways down and got out to assist. One tried to grab her or the leash as she ran by but narrowly missed. Another couple had also stopped as they thought the dog belonged to a friend.
The pup was scared so she ran down the embankment and into the brush and ivy to hide. The other female went down to retrieve the pup but it wasn't the pup that she thought. We tossed a slip lead and a hot dog and cautiously tried to lure her out but the pup was too scared so D.D. retrieved her crate trap, took it down the embankment, got ahold of the 2 leashes and with a bit of encouragement from the other witness, was able to get the pup to just walk in.
One of the Trooper's and D.D. carried the pup in the trap up the embankment and loaded her in the vehicle.
This girl is freaking safe after some intense stress and sweat had by all!!
She was thirsty and hungry and then promptly passed out and is now snoring. 😴
She is at JAS.

We were able to get this girl safe and off the streets. She is now with a foster. 💚🐾🩷
She has been reported as running loose for 6 weeks. Did someone move without her? Did her owner have an emergency or maybe pass away? Was someone visiting or traveling through? Did someone bring her and leave her?

08/12/26 LOOSE DOG
Park Ave near and around the Lions Club Park, Raymond, WA

This girl has been reported to have shown up around June 28 and has no known owner.
Although several have been trying to make friends with her, she is still just a bit too scared and skittish.
Today we will start a recovery attempt, and a couple of people have offered to foster her and possibly adopt.
Please DO NOT leave food or approach her as she is being fed and we want her to feel safe and unthreatened.

08/15 this sweet cutie has been adopted!!

08/11/26 FOUND PUP
Grand Mound Way, Rochester
Now at Joint Animal Services.

This young pup had been hanging around for a few days on Lauraine's property but she could not get close to him as he was too scared and leery.
We originally thought a trap would need to be set if calming signals would not work. Carolyn Armstrong met me so we could "work him" or set the trap if needed.
Well, today was a new day and this guy decided to trust. Upon arrival, they were all just hanging out on the porch!! ❤️
Carolyn said this is the hardest case ever. 🤣
Are you missing or recognize this cutie?

08/12 this guy is now at JAS.
If owner not found, he will be available for adoption. He is a big puppy and will likely be a large dog when fully grown. Guesstimate he is 3-5 mos old as he still has puppy teeth and his danglies are not so obvious.
