Tacoma Animal Control contacted us as they had set a trap but one was able to back out before the door completely shut. Now, they are both steering clear of the trap.
Currently heading up to the area to do some research and is likely that a Kennel Trap will need to be set.
If you know these Shepherd/Husky?? mixes, please let us know.
10/09 the good news is they found the feeding station, the bad news is they only were moving from 10 PM-6:30 AM.

If you know me, you will know there are 3 dogs on my "ugh list" because they are known to be "difficult," take much time, many miles, much stress, and frustration. They are the Jindo, LGDs, and Hybrids also known to not go in a crate trap and often require a kennel trap.
Of course not every one is the same and sometimes it only takes a few days vs many that have taken months. And of course, assistance will be provided if needed, but out my mouth, the first word is "ugh." 😆
Well on 09/27 this girl, Luna, had literally just gone to a new home because the former owners were moving with their other smaller dogs but would not be taking Luna with them!! 🤬🤷🏼‍♀️🤬
Luna was at her new home for a couple hours, then jumped over the hot fence, and Luna and the new owner are now on the run.
Coincidentally, Caryn Lynn Faucher Salapka with the The Pawty Park Connection happens to be a neighbor. So while the owner was out looking, ran into her, and couldn't have been in a better place to get help. ❤️
On an unrelated post, Caryn tagged me letting me know that she had taken on a Pyrenees case and may be needing assistance as I have a trap large enough for a Pyrenees.
Well 9 days later, over 30 miles of travel, no sightings for the first several days, numerous hours searching, volunteers talking to just about everyone in her path, posters ALL OVER, Draugr Drones Pet Recovery helping with the search, Luna going right passed the trap and not even giving the time of day to the yummies, the forming of an incredible Village, Luna was ready and open to the help that so many were trying to provide.
This is the short version of Luna's recovery but as with all, we are on their terms.
In the end, Luna chose help and to trust by approaching us. Her time, her place, her terms.

"It's an LGD thing" is now a term that Caryn has heard often. 🤣
Thanks to so many people on Team Luna in so many neighborhoods, so many other volunteers (also tagged), Bee and Adam (Luna's new people), and of course, Luna.

LOST 7-8 WEEK OLD COCKATIEL

We don't know much about birds so are unsure if a baby cockatiel would have the stamina to fly far or even survive the colder temps but thought an attempt should be made to help with a search or at the very least make a post in case others could help search or live nearby.
If found, please let us know. The reporting party is experienced and willing to help with guidance, supplies, or take the little one in and nurse to health.

The attached photo is actual but the cockatiel may now be a bit lighter and have slightly more filled in feathers.

09/30 FOUND BOXER X

This guy had been reported to been seen for almost two weeks with no known owner. He is currently at JAS.

This week, a couple of residents in the area had written about this "scared and skittish guy that wouldn't let anyone touch" suddenly appeared in the area and had been seen on Old Pacific Highway, which is not a safe road to be walking or running.
The last couple of days, had gone down to the area to search and talk to area residents just to make sure he wasn't owned and see if anyone had been feeding him. Also to scout for locations and request permission to set a trap if needed.
So yesterday after taking Mom bowling, we took a detour home to see if we could see this pup and possibly set up for recovery.
What do you know, he is on Durgin running with a couple of Chihuahuas and another guy is walking and appears to be shooing him in a different direction.
So we stop, open up the back door to get armed with hot dogs and liverwurst. This guy comes running toward me while the little ones go home. Not sure of his intentions, but when he reaches me, he comes to my side, leans against my leg, and eagerly takes bits of hot dog.
We walk a few steps to the hatch door that is already open, he jumps in, shut the door, and he is trapped. 🤣
This not-so-scared-skittish guy is now at JAS and seemed pretty friendly and good on leash for the couple of hours we hung out.
Mom enjoyed the detour on the way home. 🩷🐾💚

The good news is that there have been recent sightings of her in her neighborhood. ❤️
The bad news is she has not found the feeding station.

This large girl is a recently rescued dog from the meat trade overseas and got loose last Sunday, Sept 20.
Although she has become quite attached to her new people, she is very skittish and scared of others.

09/23 FOUND JINDO (HUSKY?)
202 St E near 50th Ave E, Spanaway

Numerous posts were made about sightings of this pup for a few days. One report from today stated the pup was injured & limping.
The more sightings and messages sent, the more concerned we became but were not able to assist because of other cases.
Then about 9:30 last night Gary Bakes commented that he had eyes on him and ended up going into a neighborhood. Then the pup ended up going onto a porch and just hanging out. D.D. asked if there was a chance that Gary could keep his eyes on him but it would be at least an hour for her to get to the location. Gary said "I'll hang around." ❤️
High gear kicked in as it was the perfect opportunity as the pup was not running and must have felt safe by laying and sleeping on the front porch.
While D.D. was on her way, Carolynn Carolynn sent a message asking if she was on her way with a trap because Gary said that someone was on the way from Olympia.
When arriving, the pup was still snoozing on the front porch so we set the trap near the sidewalk in the next lot that looked like it may be a park or water retention area, and then we all moved away from the area.
It didn't not take the pup but a couple minutes to come and check things out. He smelled around the whole area and then decided to go lay back down on the front porch and sleep.
Both Gary and Carolyn stayed as long as they could, but had commitments early in the morning.
After a long, hard snooze, the pup must've been getting a little hungry and came back to the area of the trap, drank some water, and started eating the trail of food leading in to the back. 💥. He is safe and off the streets! ❤️
The resident where this pup was sleeping must have also been watching as he immediately came out to help load the pup in the trap to D.D.'s vehicle.
This guy is now at The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County and they have him listed as a Husky.
