Tri-County Chapter 26 Members Attend the 97th Annual Department of Tennessee DAV Convention.

Members of Tri-County Chapter 26 recently attended the 97th Annual Department of Tennessee DAV Convention, where they participated in training sessions, educational programs, memorial events, and service projects dedicated to improving the lives of disabled veterans.

During the convention, Chapter 26 members took part in a hands-on building exercise, assembling rollators and wheelchairs that will be distributed free of charge to disabled veterans in need. This project reflected the DAV’s commitment to serving veterans and helping them maintain their independence and quality of life.

Members also attended a memorial service honoring veterans who passed away during the past year. The service provided an opportunity to remember their sacrifices and pay tribute to their legacy of service.

In addition to the service activities, members participated in training and informational sessions covering DAV programs, veteran advocacy efforts, and emerging treatment options for veterans. Presentations included information on psilocybin-assisted therapies and other innovative medical treatments that may offer new hope and improved outcomes for veterans facing various health challenges.

The convention provided valuable training, fellowship, and opportunities to learn about the latest developments affecting the veteran community. Tri-County Chapter 26 members returned with new knowledge, renewed motivation, and a continued commitment to serving veterans and their families.

The 2026 convention was a meaningful and successful experience, and Chapter 26 looks forward to putting what was learned into action throughout the coming year

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs today announced a new clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of methylenedioxymethamphetamine-assisted therapy, or MDMA-assisted therapy, for the treatment of severe mental health disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder and alcohol use disorder.

“We need an all-of-the-above strategy when it comes to improving mental health treatments, and under President Trump, that’s exactly what VA is working to deliver,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “This trial represents an important step in safely evaluating new approaches and innovations to treat Veterans with severe mental health conditions.”
