The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs today announced a new clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of methylenedioxymethamphetamine-assisted therapy, or MDMA-assisted therapy, for the treatment of severe mental health disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder and alcohol use disorder.

“We need an all-of-the-above strategy when it comes to improving mental health treatments, and under President Trump, that’s exactly what VA is working to deliver,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “This trial represents an important step in safely evaluating new approaches and innovations to treat Veterans with severe mental health conditions.”

Today, we pause not for celebration, but for remembrance.

Memorial Day is for the brave men and women who never made it home. The ones who gave everything in service to this nation. The empty seats at family tables. The names etched into stone. The brothers and sisters forever frozen in time, but never forgotten.

As members of DAV, we carry their memory with us every day. We honor them not only with words, but through service to the veterans, families, and communities they left behind.

Take a moment today to remember the fallen. Say their names. Share their stories. Fly the flag proudly, but remember the true cost of that freedom.

To all Gold Star families and to every veteran carrying the memory of someone they lost — we stand with you today.

Gone, but never forgotten.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 2026 🇺🇸

For some Veterans, opening up about mental health can feel scary. Concerns about stigma or judgment can make it hard to reach out.

This Mental Health Month, hear how others overcame these barriers and gave therapy a chance. https://www.maketheconnection.net/mental-health-month/
