Olean Fireworks

For the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, the Cattaraugus County Museum and Research Library, last year, released a powerful educational film as part of its ongoing “Our Veterans, Their Stories” project.

Titled “9/11: What a Vet Wants You to Know,” the film brings together the voices of local veterans and community leaders to share their personal reflections and insights on one of the most pivotal days in American history.

Now available for viewing on the museum’s official YouTube channel, the film is designed to support local educators in teaching about 9/11, but it's also open to the public. Museum staff encourage anyone with an interest in history, patriotism, or veterans’ perspectives to explore this valuable resource. (only 16 minute long)

Whether you're an educator, student, or simply someone looking to connect more deeply with the legacy of 9/11, this film offers a moving and educational experience grounded in the voices of our own community.

Thank You to the Cruise the Union 2026 Committee and the City of Olean!

At yesterday’s Common Council meeting, with the help of our wonderful city officials, including Mayor Sherburne, we had the opportunity to be presented with a check for nearly $1,920 to help support the ongoing efforts to fund next year’s fireworks!

What a wonderful celebration this year was! Not only did we come together for an incredible Fourth of July fireworks celebration, but the following day, the City welcomed 85 cars to the Olean Rocks Fourth of July Car Show, filling North Union Street with beautiful cars and an amazing sense of community spirit.

A huge thank-you to Mayor Sherburne and her staff for their continued support, as well as committee member Bob Sherburne, pictured in the second photo, and all of the other committee members who helped present the check.

Thank you also to Coach Threehouse, who worked so diligently to lead the team this year; Claudia Attard-Keary for all of her assistance with the committee; and Paula Bernstein, who not only helped with the committee but also assisted with this post. (LOL! 😉)

And, of course, a tremendous thank-you to all of the Fireworks Committee members who worked so hard to raise funds and make this year’s show possible.

It truly takes a community coming together to make events like these happen. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who helped make Cruise the Union 2026 such a success!

We’re already looking forward to continuing this wonderful tradition and making next year’s celebration even bigger and better! 🎆🇺🇸

The Fourth of July is only 298 days away! And next year, we’ll be celebrating the 100th birthday of Bradner Stadium, making the 2027 celebration one you definitely won’t want to miss!

Because of you, we can continue the tradition of keeping the Olean fireworks show alive for everyone to enjoy.
The Olean Oilers are more than just a baseball team. At a time when it can sometimes feel like there aren't enough positive stories to celebrate, the Oilers continue to be a bright spot in our community. They bring people together, inspire young athletes, create lasting memories, and remind us what community pride looks like.
This is what Olean is all about—neighbors supporting neighbors and coming together to make great things happen.
Now let's keep that momentum going! The Oilers need our community behind them as they continue their playoff run. Come out, cheer loud, and show your Oiler pride! GO OILERS! Olean Oilers@
