Today, we proudly honor and thank our outgoing President for her exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, and heartfelt service to our VFWA family.

Throughout her time as President, she never hesitated to step up whenever she was needed. She has generously volunteered her time, talents, and countless hours to ensure our events were successful, our veterans were honored, and our Auxiliary continued to thrive. Whether it was organizing programs, lending a helping hand behind the scenes, supporting fellow members, or simply being there whenever someone needed her, she always led by example.

Although her term as President has come to an end, we are incredibly fortunate that she will continue serving our Auxiliary as Treasurer. We know she will bring the same dedication, integrity, and heart to this new role.

Today, on National PTSD Awareness Day, we recognize the strength of those living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and remind them that they are not alone.

For many veterans, service members, first responders, and their families, the battles do not always end when the mission is over. Yet every day, they continue to show remarkable courageβ€”not just in moments of crisis, but in the simple act of moving forward.

PTSD does not define a person. It does not diminish their service, their character, or their worth. Seeking help is not a sign of weaknessβ€”it is a sign of strength.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars is proud to present the 2026-2027 Voice of Democracy Scholarship Program β€” one of the nation's premier scholarship competitions for high school students.

This year's theme is:

Students are invited to write and record an original 3-5 minute audio essay reflecting on how a veteran has influenced their understanding of America, freedom, service, citizenship, or patriotism.

⭐ More than $2 million in scholarships and incentives are awarded annually through the Voice of Democracy program.
