☀️ Summer EBT (SUN Bucks) is Back for Colorado Foster Families ☀️

Children in foster care can receive $120 per child to help cover grocery costs during the summer months.

Most eligible families are automatically enrolled and do not need to apply. However, children who recently moved or changed schools may need to submit an application.

💳 Benefits are issued on a Summer EBT card and can be used to purchase groceries at authorized retailers, just like SNAP benefits.

📅 Families who need to apply for 2026 benefits have until August 25, 2026.

Check out the Mayfly Project if you have a child who might enjoy fly fishing!

Mayfly Project has openings for seven kids in their Fort Collins area project for this fall and are looking to reach caregivers that want to register kids in foster care or formerly in foster care. This is a free program and has received very positive reviews from the over 2500 kids who have gone through it and their caregivers. The kids learn to fly fish, learn about the environment and receive a complete fly fishing outfit at the end of 5 sessions.

Foster Parent Summit: Why This Was Different

This wasn’t a conference built around presentations. It was a space built around caregiver voices, collaboration, and honest conversation.

So… what happens next?

Caregivers stepped forward to continue this work through ongoing committees focused on advocacy, support, and strengthening the foster care community across Colorado.

This summit was never meant to end when the day was over. The conversations started here will continue through action, connection, and community.

Throughout the summit, caregivers shared experiences, challenges, ideas, and hopes for how we better support families and children in care.

That moment captured exactly why this summit mattered.

Foster and kinship parents need to have their voices heard in meaningful ways.

On May 15th, foster, kinship, and adoptive caregivers from across Colorado came together for the Foster Parent Summit.

This was a space for honest conversations, collaboration, and action.

Caregivers shared challenges, explored solutions, and began building ongoing committees focused on strengthening support for children and families involved in Colorado’s Child Welfare System.
