The words you speak have more power than you know. The Bible says they have the power to either bring life or bring death. As you speak, you literally are bringing life to some situations with the positive words you say. At the same time, you might be tearing down and destroying other things by speaking words of death over them.

As a follower of Jesus you are a member of a royal priesthood. You are royalty and Jesus is your brother. Plus, you are a priest of the most high God. This means your words are empowered with great authority. Jesus emphasized this when He said we will give an account for every idle word we speak.

The best thing you can do is speak life into your world by calling forth those things that do not exist as though they do. Give life to people's hopes, dreams, and ideas by speaking words of creative power and encouragement instead of words of death and destruction over them.

Becoming more aware of the power of your words will help you make wiser choices in what you say. Making a conscious effort to speak more wisely will begin to improve your life in ways which might surprise you.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue;
those who love it will eat its fruit. — Proverbs 18:21 (WEB)

God designed our human brains to be most affected by what pay attention to most. This means we can renew our minds by paying close attention to the truth of God's Word. It’s a beautiful thing because gaining even one revelation of a truth from God can change the entire course of your life for the better.

Unfortunately this reality of our brain makeup also means we can drift away from that truth by fixing our attention on whatever distraction catches our eye, regardless of how obviously ungodly that distraction may or may not be.

Fixing our attention elsewhere generally makes us forget truth we once knew well. It certainly causes that truth to be far less effective in our lives.

This is exactly how some who once were on fire for the things of God drift far from Him. The life of a disciple is one of abiding in Christ. Those who neglect this and instead focus on other things end up making their lives nearly indistinguishable from unbelievers over time.

Therefore, the best option is to pay greater attention to the truth you have heard. The storms which come into your life, regardless of whether they are caused by your own mistakes or not, are signals to press harder into your relationship with God instead of backing away. When you do lean in, you give that truth even more opportunity to have a positive impact on your life.

The more intimately you know the truth, and especially the author of that truth, the more effectively and completely it will set you free.

Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest perhaps we drift away. — Hebrews 2:1 (WEB)

Too many believers mistakenly think there is nothing good in them. Outside of Christ it’s true there isn’t. However, once we are born again, we are never outside of Christ again.

This means now, as a follower of Jesus, you have all sorts of good things in you. Initially those good things are in your spirit. But that’s the real you anyway. And over time, as you discover those good things which are now in you because you believe in Jesus, they will begin to overflow out into your soul. This is when others start to see the transformation happening in your life.

It is vital that you start to acknowledge those good things which are now in you because of your new identity in Christ. It's so critical because the Bible reveals that effective faith comes from acknowledging all the good things now in you through Jesus.

Do you want your faith to be effective? Then learn all the good things which are now in you because you are in Christ.

That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. — Philemon 1:6 (NKJV)

What you focus on expands. This is a basic reality of how God wired our human minds to work. If you want to consistently experience God's peace, then you need to pass all that junk you worry about up to God in prayer and let Him sort it out.

The challenge is that your mind is not designed to be empty. It is almost impossible to not think about something. Instead, you must push out the bad mess which you are inclined to worry about by thinking on something else.

The Bible tells us exactly what kinds of things we should focus our attention on and think about. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things which are excellent and worthy of praise.

The more you focus on these types of good things, the more that old negative junk you currently think about will be cleaned out of your mind. As you change your thinking in this better direction, you will allow more of God's peace to permeate throughout your entire soul.

This will improve your life in every possible way.

Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things. — Philippians 4:8 (WEB)

You are blessed. You may not feel blessed. And that may not even be a practical reality in your experience as a follower of Jesus yet. Even so, the truth is that Jesus accomplished everything on the cross needed for you to be blessed and said, “It is finished.”

It's a done deal.

The Bible talks about the blessings we have in Christ in the past tense. They have already been accomplished and given to us. This means our part is to simply discover what those blessings and choose to come into agreement with them. That’s all it takes to receive them by faith.

God has already provided every spiritual blessing and made them all available to you through Jesus. What are you waiting for?

Dig into God's word and find those promises and blessings He has laid up just especially for you!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ — Ephesians 1:3 (WEB)

Jesus is the personification of the entirety of God in physical form. He is the perfect representation of God to us. We can look at Jesus and see exactly how God responds to different situations.

When we see how Jesus interacted with people we see how the Father and how the Holy Spirit relate to people. Jesus even told Philip that if he saw Jesus, then Philip had seen the Father.

The ideal example you can find anywhere of the right way to respond in any situation is found in the example of Jesus. And the best part? You are already in Christ. You have the mind of Christ.

Therefore you have it within you already to respond exactly like Jesus to any and every situation that comes your way!

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; — Colossians 2:9 (NKJV)

Your citizenship is in Heaven. It doesn't matter what country you were born in, where you live now, or even what passport you currently hold. Once you are born again, you become a citizen of the Kingdom of God.

Citizenship brings with it certain rights and privileges. For example, in Christ you are redeemed from the curse and blessed with believing Abraham. Curses don't belong to you because of your new citizenship.

Blessings should overtake you because of your position in Christ. Reject the lie that says a curse belongs to you. Blessings aren't just for other people. They belong to you too because you are a citizen of Heaven!

For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ — Philippians 3:20 (WEB)

You can rest assured that God is at work in you. It's a promise in the Bible that you can take to the bank. In fact, God even takes pleasure at the work He is doing in your life. Your responsibility is to rest in the Lord, trust Him, as you choose to agree and cooperate with Him.

This means being responsive when God tells you to do something. God never takes from you. Any invitation He makes for you to give something will involve God wanting to get something even better to you.

Sometimes we must make room for God's blessing in our lives by giving away something. That is part of the process of God working in you both to will and to work. The more responsive you are to God's instructions, the more work He can accomplish in your life.

Will you hear and respond to Him today?

For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. — Philippians 2:13 (WEB)

When you believed in Jesus you changed in an instant and transformed into a brand new creation. Your spirit was made righteous and holy. It is as perfect as the spirit of Jesus Himself.

And that perfection was sealed into your spirit by the Holy Spirit, keeping it pure and undefiled — even when your soul and body continue to sin. Nothing can corrupt your born again spirit.

Now the rest of your Christian walk is a process of learning how to let that purity out of your spirit so it transforms your soul and even your body as well. Not only that, but the Holy Spirit is the very guarantee that you will receive the inheritance.

Therefore you can relax, knowing your future is secure in God's infinitely capable hands.

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. — Ephesians 1:13-14 (NKJV)

Some people start out well walking with Jesus when they are first born again. But when the storms of life come, they get pushed against the rocks and their faith is shipwrecked.

You can prevent that from happening to you by making decisions to keep your conscience clear. The world puts pressure on us to violate our consciences all the time.

Unless you trust God's promises and His goodness, you will likely fall for the temptation to compromise and go against your conscience. All those little compromises along the way put you on a course to run aground and shipwreck your faith.

Instead, trust God. Keep your faith intact with a clear conscience. Then you will be able to weather any storm life throws your way and sail out the other side into calm seas with no damage whatsoever.

Keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. — 1 Timothy 1:19 (MEV)
