Continuing Serge Poulin Mission
The Rotary Club of Old Town welcomed Kenneth Nagle, Assistant District Governor, to our meeting to talk about the goals for this Rotary year and the mission established by our District Governor, Serge Poulin.
We were also glad to have incoming District Governor Dino Marzaro join us via Zoom, as he had originally planned to attend in person.
This meeting was especially meaningful because Serge’s vision was at the heart of the conversation. Sadly, Serge passed away in a tragic accident, leaving a tremendous loss in our Rotary family. While we miss him, we have the opportunity to carry forward the mission he set for our district.
Serge’s three goals for this year were to:
* Strengthen our clubs and improve the health of each club.
* Grow our membership, with a goal of every club having at least 15 members.
* Make a lasting impact in our communities and within our own clubs.
Ken also shared information about the district’s international project, New Sight Hospital, highlighting how Rotary works with communities to understand their needs and make a difference beyond our own backyards.
These goals are a reminder that Rotary is about people coming together, supporting one another, and finding ways to make our communities better. It happens through the big projects we take on, but also through the everyday acts of service that bring people together.
As the Rotary Club of Old Town moves through this year, we hope to honor Serge’s memory by putting his vision into action — strengthening our club, welcoming new members, and continuing to make a difference in the community we call home.
Thank you to Ken Nagel for joining us and sharing Serge’s mission, and to Dino Marzaro for being part of our meeting virtually.
Serge’s leadership and vision remain with us as we continue the work of Rotary, together.
