🚨 Rescue Alert 🚨Thanks to a recent grant, Old Town Fire Rescue in Maine added a new utility terrain vehicle (UTV), and it’s already making a difference.

The UTV has been used in multiple rescue missions, including helping their crew reach and transport an injured cyclist from a wooded area so she could receive timely care. Read the full story: https://firehousesubsfoundation.org/2026/02/06/granted-utv-enables-critical-backcountry-rescue/

We’re bringing it back!

The Professional Fire Fighters of Old Town Local 1655 are excited to announce the return of our Comedy Show Fundraiser on June 26th!

This event isn’t just about laughs, it helps us give back to our community by supporting food baskets, winter clothing, and college scholarships for those in need.

As part of this year’s fundraising efforts, S**o River Charitable Promotions will be making contact locally and with area businesses in support of the fundraising. If you receive a call from them, please know this is a legitimate part of our fundraiser, and is not a scam.

Check out the attached flyer for all the details, and we hope to see you there for a great night of comedy and community support!

Thank you for continuing to support your local firefighters!

Yesterday, beginning at 1:45 PM, your Old Town Firefighters responded to five calls for service in just 55 minutes. These calls included providing mutual aid to a neighboring community, as well as receiving mutual aid on our final call, where a neighboring ambulance service responded alongside our engine. In the first five months of 2025, Old Town Fire-Rescue has already responded to 963 calls for service. With call volumes rising, and events like yesterday, we cannot afford to lose our personnel.

Please consider attending the City Council meeting tomorrow, June 2nd at 6 PM at Old Town City Hall. Your voice matters, and together, we can help ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
Thank you for standing with us.

Second update from IAFF Local 1655: Professional Firefighters of Old Town. Our concerns regarding the effect that the proposed layoffs will have on our level of service to the community, and to the Firefighter/Paramedics, Firefighter/AEMTs, and Firefighter/EMTs remain the same. If you haven't already please watch the video from the shared post below. If you are able, please come to the City Council meeting located at Old Town City Hall on Monday, June 2nd at 6pm to voice your opinion and share your concerns. Thank you very much!

Urgent Public Update from Local 1655

Old Town Fire Local 1655 would like to inform the public of a matter of serious concern that directly affects the safety and well-being of our community. In light of ongoing financial challenges facing the City of Old Town, a proposal has been introduced that includes staffing reductions within our Fire Department—specifically, the potential loss of FOUR Firefighter/EMS positions.

We recognize the efforts of our City Council, and City Administration as they navigate these difficult fiscal times. However, we must also emphasize the profound implications of this proposal. Reducing our emergency response team will significantly compromise the safety of both our citizens and our firefighters.

We urge the citizens and business owners of Old Town to raise their voices and advocate for the preservation of public safety. A recording from the most recent City Council meeting is included in this update, during which I highlight several key concerns surrounding this proposal.

Please share this message and help us raise awareness. The strength of our community lies in its unity—now more than ever, we need your support to protect the citizens in which we proudly serve.

The next City Council Meeting will be June 2nd @ 6pm on the second floor of City Hall. The opportunity for public comment will be provided.

Thank You,
Matthew Webber
President Local 1655

A main goal of the Old Town Professional Fire Fighters is to give back. By supporting our fundraising events and raffles, you support 100% of that funding going directly back to the community.

This morning Treasurer Galvin presented a scholarship check to the high school for this year’s graduating senior.
