This Black History Month, S.W.E.E.T Potato Society hosted an arts-education workshop facilitated by Lanea Collins from The Teaching Artist Hub CT for the senior residents at the AHEPA apartment buildings in Niantic, CT.

The workshop began with a lesson about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his teaching on the Beloved Community which tied into a wonderful discussion on diversity and equity inclusion. During the workshop, residents were able to complete their own paintings representing roots of trees to portray aspects of community discussed during the lesson on Dr. King.

We would like to thank Lanea Collins of The Teaching Artist Hub CT and the Service Coordinators at the Niantic AHEPA apartment buildings for making this program a success!
