Some rescues happen quietly because their origin stories are sensitive and not ours to tell. While the Academy is known for kittens, a few adult cats have entered our care simply because we couldn’t say no. Cleo was one of them. 💔

For the last few months, this beautiful tortie had been living with Lexi. Life had dealt Cleo a lousy hand, and Lexi, being Lexi, stepped in when she needed someone most.

Today, Cleo suffered a medical emergency, and we had to say goodbye. Her little body couldn’t overcome the odds against her.

One of the cruelest parts of rescue is how well cats hide illness. By the time you realize how sick they are, you can be facing an impossible decision. And there they sit, looking at you lovingly, purring and trusting you completely while your heart breaks.

That was Cleo. She purred until the very end.

We did everything we could. When there was nothing more to do, we gave her the peace, dignity, and love she always deserved.

These losses come at a cost. Emotionally, they’re devastating. Financially, they’re another blow to a rescue already stretched thin. Today’s emergency vet visit was $649, and we have five spay and neuter surgeries scheduled for Wednesday.

So here we are, asking for help again. We know we ask a lot. We wish we didn’t have to, but this is the reality of rescue, including the parts you don’t see.

If you can spare a few dollars toward Cleo’s final expenses, we’d be grateful. If you can’t, we understand. A share is every bit as meaningful as a donation. A like helps, too.

To Lunch Lady’s previous owner, who claimed she just wouldn’t stay in the house…

You’re absolutely right. Just LOOK at her desperately trying to bolt out the door. 🙄😂

This cat is so incredibly content living in a safe, loving home. She’s affectionate, sweet as can be, and clearly has ZERO interest in returning to life on the streets.

We would absolutely LOVE to find Lunch Lady a forever home ourselves, especially if we could place her with one of her babies. How wonderful would it be for this deserving mama to start her next chapter alongside one of her little Lunchables? ❤️

Lupin isn’t the only odd-eyed feline to grace the halls of the Head Mistress’s residence! 👀🐈

Before Lupin, came Starina. And before Starina, there was the one and only Agador Spartacus (RIP, sweet boy 🌈❤️).

This beautiful genetic variation is called heterochromia iridum, which occurs when differences in pigmentation give a cat two different-colored eyes. It typically has no impact on their vision!

Honestly, it’s kind of wild how these beautiful little genetic anomalies keep finding their way to us! 😂Three odd-eyed cats over the years? At this point, we’re starting to think they have some sort of secret referral program! 🐾💕

Our sweet Lunch Lady hasn’t been feeling quite herself lately, and we’re working closely with her veterinary team to figure out what’s going on.

Per our veterinarian’s instructions, Lunch Lady has now been completely separated from her four Lunchables. As wonderful a mama as she’s been, those growing babies have been depleting her little body, and right now, she needs to focus on herself for a change. ❤️

We’re hoping our girl starts feeling better soon because she’s scheduled to be spayed next week. We’re also hoping to complete her FIV/FeLV testing to rule out those potential concerns.

Lunch Lady has already been through so much, and all we want is to see this sweet girl healthy, happy, and thriving. She’s spent so much time taking care of her babies. Now it’s our turn to take care of her. 🥹

So please send some love, healing vibes, good juju, and all the PAWSitive thoughts you can muster for our little lady. She deserves nothing but the best. 🐈‍⬛💕

To the tiny dictators who demand breakfast at 3 AM, scream like they’ve never been fed a day in their lives, and then turn their noses up at the food we JUST opened. 🙄
To the furry little freeloaders who knock things off counters, redecorate with their hair, steal our pillows, and have us apologizing when WE disturb THEM in OUR beds…

You are demanding, dramatic, expensive, occasionally unhinged, and quite frankly, terrible roommates. And we wouldn’t change a single thing. ❤️
We love you. We adore you. We are completely, hopelessly obsessed with you.
