Role Description:
(1880s, Deep South) A 20 year-old light-skinned Black man of mixed heritage. He's a thoughtful and cautious young man, profoundly in love with Piety, a White woman, acutely aware of the peril their forbidden love faces. Despite immense fears for their safety and the severe repercussions from her granddad, the community of white folks, and the possible danger to his own family, his resolve to build a new life with Piety up North is unwavering. His journey takes a dramatic turn when a shattering family secret comes to light, forcing him to confront an unbearable truth that fundamentally redefines his perception of their love and his very identity.

HAPPY JUNETEENTH!!!

Join our celebration today at the new Union Arts Center DMK Blackbox Theater.

We kickoff at 6:30 pm with preshow inspirational music by The 201 Experience Choir led by Maurice Axmoe Luke.

At 7 pm we open with poetry, dance, music, a dramatic reading of the Emancipation Proclamation and more. Our featured artist is Grammy nominated Junior Mack.

We’re offering free Juneteenth swag and a free drawing of Maya Angelou’s complete collection of poems.

You’re in for a good time!
