FREE To BE

FREE To BE FREE To BE is a social group for LGBT people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and the families, friends and allies who support them.

In 2010, a staff member who was working at a sister agency called ACLD (Association for Children with Learning Disabilities) approached Robert S. Budd, CEO of Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc.(FREE) about starting a support group for differently-abled individuals who were looking for support in coming to terms with their sexuality. Without hesitation, Robert Budd jumped at the oppo

rtunity and "FREE To BE" was born. FREE To BE has been successful in providing support and social events for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness, holds monthly meetings and participates in social events such as the Long Island PRIDE Parade/Festival, movie nights and dinners out.
