KindCraft

KindCraft We are a family service group with a goal of providing families with opportunities to serve once a month. Wow! Why is this so important to me?

KindCraft is a family service group that we started in hopes of providing monthly service opportunities for families with kids of all age ranges. We wanted the focus to be on building a foundation of service and compassion for our children. What started as a simple blanket making project quickly grew and we were able to take 50-60 blankets to Children's Mercy in December. The January event was to

fill Toiletry Bags for Mission Southside. We were hoping to fill 50-60 bags for them and we ended up filling 245 bags!!!! KindCraft has grown beyond anything Courtney and I ever imagined and it is so exciting to see so many people that want to make a difference for someone else. It's important to me because our kids will follow our example...and if I am being honest here, I'm not always the best example. I will be the first to admit that I am way less then the perfect mom/wife. I constantly show them the not so great sides of me and often wonder how I am ever going to get this parenting thing right. Regardless of how many times I mess up, I want my kids to know love. Not only feeling loved, but how to share love as well. I want my kids to know that their parents love Jesus and are following his greatest commandment, to love Him and to love others. I want them to know how blessed they are. How carefree their life is compared to others. I want them to be able to see a need in the world and be moved to do something about it. We frequently listen to a song by Natalie Grant, Be One, and the some of our favorite lyrics are, "Why sit around and wait for a miracle to come, when we could be one!"
This group has amazed me. We may all have different reasons for serving & what we are hoping to teach our children, but we are all rallying together and serving to make a difference for someone else. I am honored and humbled to be a part of this group and hope it spreads like wildfire!

🪨💙 Little Rocks, Big Connections!

KindCraft families will soon be creating handmade interactive rock activity sets designed to inspire play, conversation, creativity, and connection.

Families will be making:

🎲 Tic-Tac-Toe Sets
🐞 Memory Match Games
📖 Story Stone Kits
😊 Emotion Stone Sets

These special sets will be donated to organizations in our community where they can help children, seniors, and others play together, start conversations, use their imaginations, express feelings, and build meaningful connections.

If we have additional sets available after the event, we’d love to share them with local organizations that could put them to good use!

If you know of a school, therapist, senior living community, nursing home, library, hospital, nonprofit, or other organization that might benefit from these activity sets, please comment below or send us a message. 💙

We’ll connect with organizations after the event based on the number and types of sets available.

Because sometimes little rocks can create BIG connections. 🪨💙

🧱💙 “The path to happiness is laid with bricks of kindness.”

One small act of kindness may not feel like much on its own—but put enough of them together, and you can build something pretty incredible.

That’s what we get to see at KindCraft every month: kids and families showing up, helping others, and discovering that kindness really does build connection.

💬 What’s one small act of kindness someone has done for you that you still remember? Tell us in the comments—we’d love to hear it!

Keep laying those bricks. 💙

Behind every KindCraft event is a little bit of prep…and some pretty awesome Student Ambassadors! ❤️

Our Student Ambassadors have been busy getting ready for our upcoming Kindness Rocks event! They washed and cleaned rocks so they’ll be ready for families to decorate, then broke out the paint markers to create sample designs and ideas for our young volunteers.

Ladybugs and bumblebees for tic tac toe and beach balls, ice cream, rockets and more for story stones— we love seeing their creativity come to life! 🐞🐝🚀🍦

Our Student Ambassador program gives teens the opportunity to take an active role in service—from helping prepare materials and setting up projects to assisting families and younger children during our events.

We’re so grateful for the time and energy they put in behind the scenes. These are the little things that help make our monthly projects possible—and a great reminder that there are so many different ways to serve. 💙

People often ask what it means to sponsor a KindCraft event. As we're putting together the supply list for our upcoming projects, we thought we'd give you a behind-the-scenes look at exactly where your sponsorship goes!

To fulfill our mission of creating a community of compassionate children through family service projects, we need supplies. Kids love hands-on activities, and we love filling their hands with opportunities to create something meaningful that blesses someone else.

Our September Blooming with Gratitude service project will help children celebrate National Gratitude Day by creating beautiful handmade gifts to thank the people who make a difference in their lives.

To make this event possible, we're looking for donations of:
🌼 Pipe cleaners
🌼 Wire cutters
🌼 Floral wire
🌼 Spray paint
🌼 Green floral tape
🌼 Flower stamens
🌼 Printed tags
🌼 Tissue paper

If you'd like to sponsor this event or donate supplies, we'd be so grateful for your support. Every item helps us provide a meaningful service experience for local families and gives children the opportunity to practice gratitude through kindness.

Thank you for helping us grow a more compassionate community—one child, one family, and one act of kindness at a time. 💛

One of our favorite pieces of feedback from our Summer Sunshine Kits event:

💙 "They were really excited about how many Hot Wheels cars were able to be purchased and donated. They'll also remember that we did the activity together as a family—even their 1-year-old sister loved participating! They loved that they could package the kits independently. It made them feel very big!" 😊

Yes, together we were able to provide essential items that will bring smiles to our homeless community. But just as importantly, we created an opportunity for kids to experience the joy of giving.

When children are trusted with meaningful tasks, they discover they're capable of making a difference. They build confidence, compassion, and memories that last long after the event is over.

And seeing families—including the littlest siblings—serving side by side reminds us that kindness truly has no age limit. ❤️

This morning, my son and I gave one of the Summer Sunshine Kits to a person in need at the exit ramp of 435 and Metcalf. We tried to last Friday but he wasn’t there.

As we drove down the ramp, I rolled down the window to show him we had something for him. When he realized this, he dropped his sign and began quickly walking towards us. We have seen him for several weeks now as we drive this route often. We thought he was a teenager but as he got closer we realized he was much older.

We handed him the ziploc bag filled with items to help him in the summer heat. He said “God bless you” to us and when my eyes met his, I could see the pain.

By the time the light turned green and we were passing him, he had already downed the warm bottled water.

My son said tomorrow let’s bring him more water and let’s put it in a cooler so it tastes better. I said ok, let’s do it.

Just a reminder that even very small acts of kindness can make a difference.

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing Student Ambassadors who helped make our Summer Sunshine Kits event such a success! 💙

These four incredible teens were the first to arrive and the last to leave. They set up tables and chairs, built our assembly line, kept supplies stocked, squeezed the air out of hundreds of bags so everything would fit into our boxes, welcomed families, encouraged younger kids, answered questions, and stayed to clean up at the end of the night.

Not once did we hear, "What do I do now?" Instead, they jumped in wherever they saw a need—with smiles, positive attitudes, and hearts ready to serve.

Our events simply wouldn't be the same without Student Ambassadors. They don't just volunteer—they help create an experience where families can focus on serving together.

If you're a high school student looking for a meaningful way to make a difference, develop leadership skills, earn volunteer hours, and be part of an incredible team, we'd love to have you join us!
