It’s always important to ask families if they have a gun in the home and how it’s stored if your child has been invited to a slumber party or sleepover.

June is Gun Violence Awareness Month. If you keep a gun in your home, hiding it isn’t enough. Kids are curious, and studies show that they usually know where their family keeps a gun. All guns in your home should be locked and unloaded, with ammunition locked separately. Make sure children and teens can’t access the keys or combinations to lock boxes or gun safes. Traumatic Brain Injury happens to all ages!

Brain injury is one of the most common threats to Brain Health in the United States and around the world that requires both preventive efforts and robust, long-term support for those affected. Protecting Brain Health both reduces the risk of brain injury across the lifespan and improves outcomes for those affected, including their loved ones, through support for recovery, reintegration, long-term health, and overall quality of life. At the Brain Injury Association of America, we believe that brain injury must be recognized as a central Brain Health issue. "Is your child ready for an e-bike? 🚲⚡ Before riding an e-bike, kids should have strong skills on a traditional pedal bicycle, follow traffic rules 🚦, wear a helmet every ride 🪖, and be able to handle increased speed and size safely.
Recommended guidance:
• Under 12 years: No e-bikes 🚫
• Ages 12–15: If ready, choose Class 1 only 🚲
• Ages 16+: Start with Class 1 👍
Always check local and state laws before riding.
