What a great way to honor our female Eagle Scouts.

Unveiled this week at the 2023 National Jamboree was a statue honoring the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts! Entitled "Ascending Eagle," the bronze statue symbolizes the strength and spirit of young women in Scouting and serves to inspire future generations of female Scouts. Sculptor Jamie Lester notes, "The wings that extend from the statue’s backpack are symbolic of the Valkyrie, from ancient Norse mythology, and are representative of female power and prestige."

We are proud of all of our female Scouts, and applaud our Eagles for their incredible accomplishments!

Days 4-6 were a blast with our changed plans. We went to the Montana State Capital and got to watch part of a special session of the House for the 50th Anniversary of their Constitutional Convention. We explored Helena and ate some great food. Headed to the Expo, we stopped to take a boat tour at The Gates of the Mountains. We learned some history of the area, saw some local wildlife and flora and Ms Sell even pointed out a pair of Bald Eagles perched in a tree. We are excited to see what the next leg of our trip has in store

We have had an eventful few days on our trip to the Montana International Scout Expo. We've learned that sometimes all the best laid plans go awry, but we are able to make lemonade out of lemons. We had 0 phone service after about 12pm Sunday due to being in Teton. It poured rain on us all night and everyone woke up with some gear having taken on water. We traveled from Teton to Yellowstone and were told the North loop was closed due to flooding and we would have to go out the West side rather than the North as we had planned (and where we were supposed to stay) We had a blast in the park, saw so many amazing things and had a great time!! When we got out of Yellowstone and got some cell service back, we found out that it was WAY worse than we were told (mudslides, roads washed out, evacuations) and that we were some of the last people let in the park. We learned that our original destination for the evening was unreachable and that there was a Winter Weather advisory for our planned next nights area with 2' of snow being anticipated. So, we worked out a plan of action to get close to the expo in an area that wasn't supposed to see snow and explore some more of MT!

The troop had a wonderful time exploring Ha Ha Tonka State Park and Bridal Cave after several hours helping Park staff with a conservation project. They worked with rock and concrete to shore up retaining walls at the lake edge.

Congrats Allison!
