You have a cool tool or miracle material or clever hack you use to make models, don't you. We want to know about it/them! Post it here, or email it to [email protected]. We need the name and where to get it. A picture is helpful. If you hacked it, or use it for something other than its usual purpose, please explain.

All these amazing time/effort savers will be presented at our conference in Denver AND we'll share then on our site if you can't make it. Show us what you got! Thanks!!

As you almost effortlessly slip into your robot or superhero armor costume this Halloween, take a moment to think about the hard-working actors and stunt people who had to spend hours suiting up, endure 8+ hours of heat and near-immobility, and often harmful or at least painful falls for months on end whil shooting a movie. More on the struggle here: https://apmm.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?page_id=5&club_id=22501&item_id=106782&

Hey spray painters! Would you like to be able to apply any kind of paint without overspray, blowback, a compressor or a paint booth? APMM member Jen Shorb got her hands on an Apollo Sprayers HVLP System and gave us a demo. Watch her paint the safe-for-work and non-copyrighted parts of Dr. Manhattan's anatomy. See how the very low nozzle air flow makes painting a breeze!

Join Jen Shorb of Protek Models, LLC, as she presents a comprehensive guide to setting up and using Apollo Sprayers HVLP painting equipment. Filmed for the A...

Experimenting today. Electroforming copper over a 3D printed part, sprayed with conductive graphite coating. Copper is "growing" from the copper handling wire out across the surface, very slowly. What you see is after an hour in the bath. Supposedly the copper shell can be grown up to 1mm thick over the course of 12 hours or so. Anyone else had cause to electroform metal onto printed parts for model projects in the past?

APMM model makers create models from the scratchest of scratch. Built from blocks of plastic, metal and wood stock, which are cut using table saws and CNC machines, primed and painted like a car with spray guns, etc. But many of us got our start assembling kits. Where will the future professional model makers come from???

Some model makers make stuff and then blow it up in the parking lot, some make stuff and blow it up on their workstations. What kind of model maker would you rather be? CGI is definitely getting used more and more, but practical effects are making a comeback!
