Open gate was created to help anyone in the greater Okmulgee area with food and other basic needs, Meals are served every Wed. at 4:30pm.
150 people on average come through the doors each week so we know that there is a need. If you, your church or organization would like to help in this community outreach program please contact us. Donations are always needed and are helpful. You never know when you or someone you know may need the help.

Open Gate can help if you are concerned about the cost to host. We have some food available to help with the expense, there are a lot of simple meals to prepare that would cost very little.

Please, talk to your group or church family and try to figure out a good time to host then call me and let's get you scheduled. If we are to continue this outreach in our community, we're going to need more help from the community. Without your help we would definitely be closing our doors.

Last Wednesday, January 3rd, our good friend Carol Smith and members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church were on hand to host and they served sliced ham and pineapples, mashed potatoes, green beans and desserts were furnished by Jubilee Christian Center. We had a huge coconut cake that we were able to get 48 servings. It was beautiful and delicious. Thank you Kim Dodson for leaving it for Open Gate. Those responsible for the meal were: Carol Smith, Jackie Johnson, Shirley McCurdy and Brenda Hickmon. Thank you ladies for coming to our rescue when we were desperate for volunteer hosts. We appreciate you so much.

On Wednesday, December 27th, our host was Deep Fork Community Action under the direction of Greg (and pardon me but I'm afraid to spell his last name for getting it incorrect) and the gang at DFCA. They prepared pork chops and gravy. It was a good meal and we had about 150 guests enjoying being inside where it was warm and festive. Thank you Greg and everyone who had a hand in meal preparation. Greg is a huge Oklahoma Sooner fan and he was fortunate enough to attend the Rose Bowl game in California. Too bad it had to end the way it did but the game was a close one and very exciting. My son Bryan and his family were there and I know he was depressed over the way it ended. But OSU won their bowl game and for that we can be happy.

Hello and Happy New Year to all our friends from Open Gate. We ended December 2017 with a bang and we began 2018 with a blast. Bang and blast could very well describe the arctic cold we experienced. But today it's sunny and the high will be close to 50*. We like to say in Oklahoma if you don't like the weather just stick around for it will no doubt change in a couple of days.
