A huge thank you to The 34 Project in Oklahoma City for graciously allowing Veterans Adaptive Life Foundation to take your nonprofit spotlight at the BNI networking event in Yukon, Oklahoma!

This was an incredible opportunity to share our mission, connect with community leaders, and introduce our foundation to a room full of passionate, like-minded individuals who believe in supporting our nation’s disabled veterans.

We are grateful for organizations like The 34 Project that understand the importance of collaboration over competition. Together, we can make a lasting impact in the lives of veterans who need adaptive equipment, home modifications, and other resources to regain independence and improve their quality of life.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to listen, ask questions, and express interest in supporting our mission. We are excited about the relationships formed and the opportunities ahead.

Stronger together. Greater impact. Better lives for our veterans.

🇺🇸 Veterans Adaptive Life Foundation – Application for Assistance Now Available 🇺🇸

We are excited to announce that the Veterans Adaptive Life Foundation Application for Assistance is officially available!

If you know a disabled veteran anywhere in Oklahoma who is struggling with accessibility needs, adaptive equipment, home modifications, transportation challenges, or other disability-related hardships, we ask that you help us spread the word and begin circulating this application.

This is a major milestone for our organization. What started as a vision to serve disabled veterans is becoming a reality, and we are getting closer and closer to providing financial assistance to our very first veteran.

Every share, comment, and referral helps us reach veterans who may not know that support is available.

Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of Oklahoma’s disabled veterans and their families.

Please share this post and help us reach those who need it most.

Meet Our Founder & President — TJ Williams 🇺🇸

Originally from Apache, Oklahoma, TJ Williams joined the United States Air Force at the end of 2010. He attended Basic Military Training in San Antonio, Texas, followed by the Security Forces Academy, where he began his career serving as a Security Forces member. His first duty station was Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana.

As a member of the 741st Missile Security Forces Squadron, TJ performed security operations throughout the missile fields of Montana while fully armed and equipped in full battle gear. During a mission providing topside security for maintenance crews working on nuclear missile sites, TJ was involved in an up-armored HMMWV rollover accident. He sustained severe injuries, including fractures to his cervical spine at the C4–C6 vertebrae, leaving him quadriplegic. TJ was only 23 years old when his life changed forever.

During his military service, TJ earned several honors and awards, including:

* Air Force Achievement Medal
* Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with One Oak Leaf Cluster
* Air Force Good Conduct Medal
* National Defense Service Medal
* Global War on Terrorism Service Medal
* Air Force Training Ribbon
* Marksman Ribbon (M4)
* Airman of the Quarter

Although his injury permanently changed his life, TJ remained determined to continue living life to the fullest. After completing inpatient rehabilitation, medically retiring from the military, and learning how to adapt to life with a spinal cord injury, he eventually returned to school to continue his education.

TJ earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry in 2018 and later pursued a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Organizational Management, graduating in 2023. At the time, he had no idea how much those experiences would prepare him for what would come next — founding the Veterans Adaptive Life Foundation.

Throughout this journey, his wife, Hope, has remained faithfully by his side. TJ and Hope have now been married for over 15 years, with more than 13 of those years navigating life after his injury together. Through every challenge, transition, and milestone, their love has continued to grow and blossom, serving as a testament to resilience, commitment, and faith.

Over the last 13 years, TJ has been blessed by the generosity of numerous nonprofits and organizations that poured into his life and his family. Through the support of others, he and Hope were able to pursue IVF treatments to grow their family, and he was also awarded a mortgage-free smart home specifically retrofitted for his disability needs. These are just a few examples of the incredible support he has received throughout his journey.

Today, TJ and Hope are the proud parents of two boys, ages 2 and 7, who look up to their father dearly. Becoming a husband and father while experiencing firsthand the impact that generosity and support can have on a family became a major driving force behind creating the Veterans Adaptive Life Foundation. After years of others graciously giving to him and his family, TJ felt called to create something of his own that could pour back into the lives of other disabled veterans and their families in the same meaningful way.

Today, TJ uses his experiences, faith, leadership, and passion for helping others to advocate for disabled veterans and create opportunities that empower them to adapt, overcome, and thrive.

Another great luncheon representing the Veterans Adaptive Life Foundation at the Mix & Mingle hosted at Toby Keith’s Bar & Grill in Moore, Oklahoma! 🇺🇸

These events are always a great opportunity to connect with business owners and community leaders from across the OKC Metro while sharing our mission of supporting disabled veterans and helping them adapt, overcome, and thrive.

We’re thankful for every conversation, every connection, and every person willing to learn more about how we’re working to make a difference in the veteran community right here in Oklahoma.

The support and relationships being built through events like these continue to open doors for our veterans and our foundation.

Please help us welcome our newest board member, Ladd McGraw, to the Veterans Adaptive Life Foundation family!

Ladd retired from the United States Army in 2015 as a Lieutenant Colonel after an incredible 24 years of enlisted and commissioned service to our nation. Throughout his military career, he served in numerous leadership roles including Combat Engineer Team Leader, Infantry Rifle Platoon Leader, Maintenance Company Commander, Civil Affairs Team Leader, Civil Affairs Detachment Commander, Civil Affairs Company Commander, and Civil Affairs Battalion Commander (Rear). He ultimately culminated his service as the Civil Military Operations Advisor to the Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command Central.

During his time as a Civil Affairs Officer, Ladd worked alongside interagency partners and host nation leaders across the Middle East and Africa, helping connect critical resources and capabilities to vulnerable populations in need. His dedication to service and leadership has impacted countless lives both here and abroad.

Even after retirement from the Army, Ladd continues serving our country today as a Department of the Air Force civilian.

What makes Ladd’s addition to our board even more meaningful is his personal understanding of the challenges veterans face. As both a disabled veteran and the father of a disabled veteran, he brings a level of compassion, perspective, and purpose that aligns directly with our mission.

“I am honored and humbled to be a part of Veterans Adaptive Life Foundation. No veteran, and especially a disabled veteran, should have to navigate life after service alone.”
— Ladd McGraw

We are incredibly honored to have Ladd join our leadership team as we continue building programs and opportunities that empower disabled veterans and their families across Oklahoma and beyond.

Welcome to the mission, Ladd! 🇺🇸

We’re honored to welcome Mark Sexton to the board of the Veterans Adaptive Life Foundation.

Mark is a retired Oklahoma City Police Master Sergeant with 35 years of service to the community. During his distinguished career with OKCPD, he served as a Patrol Officer, Undercover Detective, K-9 Officer, and Fatal Collision Investigator. He was named Officer of the Year in 1991 and received a Life Saving Award in 2011.

Mark also serves as the Oklahoma State Coordinator for Operation Lifesaver, helping prevent railroad-related injuries and fatalities across the state. In addition, he is the owner of Crash Science and Investigation, Inc., where he is recognized as an expert in collision reconstruction and investigation.

Even after retirement, Mark continues serving others through mediation work and volunteer efforts throughout Oklahoma. In his own words, he states,

“Although I am not a veteran myself, I have many family members who are veterans and my family has been deeply affected by the sacrifices they make while serving this country. I consider it an honor to serve this organization for the ones who served this nation.”

Welcome to the mission, Mark 🇺🇸
