What’s your Y? 🧡

For one of our advocates, it’s being there for survivors during some of the most difficult moments of their lives and helping them feel safe, heard and supported.

Working directly with survivors means reminding them they are not alone, helping them understand their options and providing support as they determine what comes next.

Every act of advocacy matters. Every survivor deserves to be heard. And every step toward breaking the cycle of domestic violence makes a difference.

A huge thank you to the volunteers from Chickasaw Community Bank who spent time helping prepare our new apartments by cleaning and getting the spaces ready for what comes next. 🧡

We’re so grateful for community partners who are willing to roll up their sleeves and help turn these spaces into welcoming homes. Your time, energy and support mean so much to YWCA Oklahoma City and the people we serve.

Giving back to the community can make a lasting difference. ❤️

Participants in the Fatherhood Program at Allen Gamble Correctional Center (AGCC) recently donated $500 to the YWCA Oklahoma City, supporting the organization’s work with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their families.

It was an honor to deliver the donation and learn more about the incredible resources the YWCA provides to families in need. One program that especially stood out is its EmPAWerment Program, which allows survivors to seek shelter and services while keeping their pets with them. 🐾

The YWCA also provides emergency shelter, 24/7 sexual assault advocacy, support groups, SANE services and training for businesses and organizations.

We are proud of the men participating in the Fatherhood Program for recognizing an opportunity to give back and support an organization making a difference in the Oklahoma City community.

For Misti, VP of Advancement & Sustainability, her Y is rooted in the courage of survivors and the opportunity to stand beside people as they move forward.

Throughout October, we’ll continue sharing the people, experiences, and purpose that keep this work moving forward.
