honestly honestly is building a movement to improve s*xual health outcomes for youth in Oklahoma County.

Oklahoma’s teen birth rate is the fourth highest in the nation, and Oklahoma County has the highest number of teen births in the state. Pregnancy and parenting among teens result in greater risks of poverty, health issues, unstable housing and employment, and food insecurity. Teen pregnancy prevention is a key strategy in the reduction of poverty. honestly serves as the backbone organization for t

he Central Oklahoma Teen Pregnancy Prevention Collaboration. In this role, we convene and connect partners and change agents, engage and mobilize the community, evaluate and share data, and advocate for youth to have access to resources, services, and medically accurate information about s*xual health. The Collaboration’s goal is to reduce Oklahoma County’s teen birth rate by another 25% by 2025. The Central Oklahoma Teen Pregnancy Prevention Collaboration (Collaboration) has been working together to reduce the teen birth rate in Oklahoma County since 2012. Today, the Collaboration boasts over 30 organizations and 80 individuals who are serving as community champions and change agents for adolescent s*xual health. Large-scale, lasting population-level change is not possible through the work of any single organization. A collaborative, cross-sector approach is needed to truly build a movement, and that’s where the Collaboration’s power lies. Using a Collective Impact framework, the Collaboration encourages organizations and individuals with different knowledge, experience, resources, and backgrounds to work together to achieve a broad community goal. Collective Impact has five key conditions to help guide the work:
A common agenda
A shared measurement system
Mutually reinforcing activities
Continuous communication
A backbone organization

Together, we can stay informed and better understand how policy changes may shape the health and well-being of Oklahoma's young people! 🤝💜✨

Here’s What We’re Reading this month 👀

Three updates we’re tracking across the youth health landscape:

1️⃣ Birth control misinformation is showing up in real conversations

2️⃣ The 2026 KIDS COUNT Data Book puts teen birth progress in a bigger child well-being context

3️⃣ Oklahoma voters broadly support s*x education in middle and high schools

Together, these reads point to a simple truth: young people need good information and supportive communities to make healthy decisions.

That’s the work the Central Oklahoma Collaboration to Prevent Teen Pregnancy is moving toward with partners across the region! 👏

Meet honestly, an incredible nonprofit organization doing essential work for the next generation right here in our Oklahoma community.

Honestly is a dedicated nonprofit working to improve health outcomes and opportunities for youth across Oklahoma County. They act as a community backbone, equipping trusted adults, professionals, and youth with the resources, education, and connections they need to thrive. By focusing on healthy decision-making, supportive dialogue, and building a culture of care, they ensure that every young person has the opportunity to pursue education and well-being without limits.

Here are a few ways they make an impact:
🤝 Connecting the Community: They lead a county-wide network of services, clinics, and nonprofits working together to support local youth.

📚 Empowering Adults: They provide valuable training and tools for parents, caregivers, and professionals so they feel confident having supportive, open conversations with kids.

🌟 Youth-Centered Support: They ensure young people have access to safe, friendly, and medically accurate resources to make healthy life choices.

We are especially proud to highlight that Kirkpatrick Policy Institute's very own Brendan has been a vital resource and supporter of their mission! Brendan has brought immense value to their work through his active involvement in Honestly's Advocacy Programs, the S*x Ed Subgroup, and their Advocacy Committee. ✨
