On June 10, the Bake It Forward team hosted our second baking workshop at YFS El Reno's summer camp. Ten young bakers learned how to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch.

We started the session by asking them their favorite baked goods. Then we taught them how to use a kitchen scale, measure ingredients
properly, and mix dough like pros. By the end, they had trays of warm cookies and smiles to match.

This was our 10th event overall as a nonprofit. When we started Bake It Forward, we believed that teaching a young person to bake is about
more than just cookies. It's about showing them they can create something good with their own two hands.

Ten events later, we still believe that. But now we've seen it happen.

Thank you to YFS El Reno for hosting us. Thank you to our volunteers.

Bake It Forward OKC just wrapped its first school year, and we're not slowing down.

In 9 months, we hosted 9 community events, served over 500 people, distributed 2,000 baked goods, partnered with Youth and Family Services of El Reno, showed up for foster families and first responders, and organized Oklahoma's first youth-led Christmas festival. All of it ran by teenagers from Mustang High School.

Now we're looking for the people who will help us do even more.

Applications are open for our 2026–27 leadership team and volunteer base:

Chapter Ambassadors (Edmond, Norman, Yukon, Midwest City, Moore, and more)
General Volunteers

High school students only. No experience required. Year-round commitment. About 3–4 hours a week.
