Week 9 - Highlights and as we say when we end our campfire - That’s the end… that’s, that’s the end! JUST for Summer 2026, That is.

What an unforgettable first summer at YMCA Camp Dakani. We watched campers cross our bridge into new adventures, build friendships, discover courage, get a little muddy, laugh a lot, and make memories they’ll carry long after summer.

But the truth is… it wasn’t the end—it was the beginning.

We’re just getting started. WOOT!

This fall, YMCA Camp Dakani comes alive in a whole new way with:
- Outdoor Education programs for schools
- Groups & retreats
- Volunteer projects
- Fall Break Camp
…and so MUCH more!!

The adventure never really stops around here. There are still trails to explore, campfires to gather around, gardens to grow, and lives to impact.

Tomorrow we welcome our final day of the very first summer at YMCA Camp DaKaNi.

Looking back, this photo reminds us what camp is all about. Every camper who crossed this bridge also crossed into new experiences—trying something for the first time, making a new friend, discovering courage they didn’t know they had, and creating memories they’ll carry for years to come.

Over the past nine weeks, we’ve watched children grow in confidence, laugh freely, encourage one another, and experience the joy of the outdoors. That’s the true magic of camp.

To every family who trusted us, every volunteer who served, every staff and counselor who poured into our campers, and every child who made this place come alive—thank you!!

Together, we didn’t just have a successful summer… we built the foundation for a tradition that will bless children for generations.

Tomorrow we’ll take one final walk across this bridge for Summer 2026 but it’s only the beginning of the journey for YMCA Camp DaKaNi.

Here’s to an unforgettable first summer—and to many adventures still ahead!!

Hey everyone! It’s another beautiful day here at YMCA Camp Dakani!

Today our campers were out in the garden pulling weeds, watering, and harvesting vegetables that campers have cared for all summer. Along the way, they’re learning that growth takes patience, teamwork, and responsibility—and that hard work really does pay off.

The best part? What they harvest is donated to the North Side YMCA food pantry, where our campers see firsthand that when people work together, they can make a real difference.

We’re not just growing tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and squash—we’re growing confident, compassionate kids who are learning to serve others and strengthen the community around them.

What a great night at YMCA Camp DaKaN! Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate YUSA Campfire Across America and 175 years of the YMCA with us.

There’s just something so special about camp, coming together around a campfire, sharing stories, singing songs, roasting s’mores, and making new friends.

To every family, volunteer, staff member, and friend who gathered around the fire with us… thank you. You helped make tonight another reminder that there truly is No Place Like This Place.

What a way to wrap up Week 5!
Our Camp Olympics week was filled with determination, teamwork, laughter, and plenty of camp spirit. Every challenge, relay, and game reminded us that the best victories aren’t just about winning —they’re about encouraging a friend, trying something new, and giving it your all.

A huge shoutout to our 💚 Explorers and 💛 Voyagers for bringing incredible energy all week long. You represented your teams with heart, and we’re so proud of each and every one of you!
