Food banks like the Regional Food Bank will always step up in times of need, but long-term stability comes from policies that keep families secure in the first place.

Through the Regional Food Bank's Summer Feeding Program, children up to the age of 18 years can receive a free, nutritious meal and snack during the summer months when school is not in session.

This past summer, the Regional Food Bank made the choice to expand its mobile meal distributions, leaning into a home delivery system that would deliver 10-days of meals and snacks directly to the doors of children living with hunger, particularly in rural Oklahoma.

Yesterday, in partnership with the Oklahoma City Housing Authority, the Regional Food Bank helped open a brand-new food pantry for seniors at Shartel Towers! These senior pantry sites provide food access to older adults and adults with disabilities living in public housing.

One of the most critical tools we have to fight hunger in the United States is SNAP.

As changes to SNAP go into effect, the Regional Food Bank anticipates seeing an increased need for food assistance, placing a greater strain on charitable resources. Food banks alone cannot replace a federal nutrition program at this scale.
