Nobody told her it couldn't be done. A lone gray wolf born in 2023 in Northern California just made history — and she's still going.

BEY03F was born to the Beyem Seyo Pack in Plumas County. By 2025, she had already traveled 370 miles south of the pack she was born into — the longest southward dispersal of any known wolf in California. That alone would have been a remarkable story. But she wasn't finished.

On February 7, 2026, BEY03F crossed into Los Angeles County — the first confirmed gray wolf in that county in over 100 years. "This is the most southern verified record of a gray wolf in modern times," said Axel Hunnicutt, gray wolf coordinator for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Let that sink in for a second.

Then she kept going.

By May 18, 2026, BEY03F had pushed through terrain rising at least 13,000 feet and entered Sequoia National Park — the first gray wolf documented there in over a century. She passed just south of Mount Whitney on her way through, like she had somewhere important to be and wasn't slowing down for anyone.

She's fitted with a GPS collar, so wildlife officials can track her every step in real time. They believe she's searching for a mate and her own territory — doing exactly what wolves are supposed to do. Wolves were wiped out in California back in 1924. They came back on their own in 2011, and as of 2026, there are nine known packs in the state.

BEY03F isn't part of any of them. She's out there alone.

"You want them to find a mate and be able to establish a territory," said Amaroq Weiss of the Center for Biological Diversity. "But what you don't want is for them to end up dead in the process of searching."

She is moving through landscapes her species hasn't walked in a century, crossing mountains and counties and history itself — just looking for somewhere to belong. There's something in that story that feels a lot bigger than one wolf.

Are you rooting for her? Drop a comment and let us know — this lone wolf deserves every bit of it.

June is Men's Health Month 💙

Our men carry a lot, from family responsibilities, community leadership, cultural knowledge, and the strength to keep moving forward. This month, we want to remind every man that taking care of your health is not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength.

Whether it's scheduling a check-up, talking with someone about your mental health, staying active, eating healthier, or simply taking time to care for yourself, every step matters.

Healthy men help build healthy families, stronger communities, and a brighter future for our children.

The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes Department of Health encourages all men to make their health a priority this month and every month.
