Join us for our third Fall Regional Meeting at Casa Romo’s in Ardmore, OK, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026! We’ll kick things off at 5:30 p.m. with social hour, followed by food, fellowship, and one hour of continuing education.

Our first OKFDA Fall Regional Meeting at Rachel’s Kitchen in Chouteau was a great success! We enjoyed an evening of fellowship, education, and reconnecting with our funeral service colleagues. A BIG THANK YOU to Central Vaults for hosting the social hour! We would also like to say a BIG THANK to Ambulance and Coach Sales and LifeShare of Oklahoma for sponsoring the meeting ~ their sponsorship helps offset the cost of the meal!

📢Regional Meeting Speaker Spotlight! 📢

Don will present “Communicating the Value of Today’s Funeral Professional,” an engaging session focused on recognizing and communicating the essential role funeral professionals play in serving families and their communities.

Don Strickland joined Funeral Director’s Life in 2015 and currently serves as Director of Professional Development. He holds a BBA in Management, a master’s degree in HR Management, and has begun doctoral studies in Organizational Leadership. A fourth-generation funeral professional and CSFP designee, he is also a licensed general lines life insurance agent.

With over 40 years of experience in family business ownership and corporate management, Don’s background includes start-ups, market expansion, business operations, and strategic and risk planning. He leads the development of funeral director and insurance CEU training, specializing in end-of-life education, technology integration and ethics. He also works with the Wolfelt 'Why of Funerals’ and hospice initiatives training. A guest lecturer at mortuary science programs around the country, he is passionate about mentoring and cheerleading the next funeral and preplanning generation.

The Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association joins our colleagues across the nation in mourning the sudden death of Mike Nicodemus, Vice President of Cremation Services with the National Funeral Directors Association.

“Mike’s impact on NFDA and the funeral service profession is immeasurable,” said NFDA CEO Christine Pepper, CAE. “He was a true authority in his field, but what made Mike so special was how generously he shared what he knew. Whether he was teaching a classroom of funeral professionals or answering a call from a member who needed his help, Mike cared deeply about getting it right and helping others do the same. We have lost a treasured colleague, teacher and friend, and we will miss him deeply.”

Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire NFDA community.

Once funeral arrangements have been finalized, OKFDA will share Mike’s full obituary and service information with our membership.

Today, we’re proud to celebrate OKFDA member funeral home Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home & Crematory and an incredible 56 years of serving families in Enid, Oklahoma, and beyond!

Milestones like this are special to us because they represent so much of what OKFDA is all about. Our Association is made stronger by funeral homes and funeral service professionals who have dedicated their careers—and in many cases, generations—to caring for Oklahoma families and communities.

For 56 years, Ladusau-Evans has built relationships, earned the trust of families, and provided compassionate, professional care when it matters most. We are incredibly proud to have them as part of OKFDA.
