Today’s special election presents a rare opportunity to address one of the root causes of homelessness in Oklahoma: the widening gap between wages and housing costs.
We meet neighbors and guests every day who have worked hard, held jobs, and have still found themselves unable to keep up with rising housing costs. Homelessness is a complex issue, but the growing gap between wages and the cost of living remains its most significant driver. The decisions we make today about the economic realities facing working Oklahomans can shape the strength and stability of our communities for years to come.
We believe that homelessness is a community issue that deserves a community response. We encourage you to visit www.oklahoma.gov/elections to learn about the election, and check out the link in our bio to discover how minimum wage directly impacts increased homelessness inflow in our communities.
