Due to the heartbreaking flooding event of the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, Nepal, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's Teej Celebration.

During this time of tragedy and sorrow, our thoughts and prayers are with the individuals, families, and communities affected by this devastating event.

We understand that many of you were looking forward to celebrating together, and we sincerely appreciate everyone's understanding and support. At this moment, we believe it is important for us to stand in solidarity with those affected.

We will share further updates with the community as they become available.

Most of us woke up Wednesday morning to the heartbreaking news and images of the flooding of the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa. This devastating flood has caused immeasurable damage to lives and property. At this time, we still do not know the full extent of the damage caused by this disaster.

The Oklahoma Association of Nepalese (OAN) is collecting donations to support the flood victims. We are asking our fellow Oklahomans and community members to come together and help those affected by this devastating event.

All funds collected by OAN will be deposited into Nepal's Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund to support relief and recovery efforts for those impacted by the disaster.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, can make a difference. Together, we can stand with the victims and help them during this difficult time.

The Teej Celebration 2026 for the mothers, sisters, and daughters of Oklahoma will be held on:
Date: Saturday, August 29, 2026
Venue: Will Rogers Botanical Gardens, Oklahoma City

Celebration begins from 4:00 p.m.

This special evening is an opportunity to come together to celebrate Teej through fellowship, culture, music, dance, and tradition.

Admission is FREE!

Thanks to Raunak Bhakta Shrestha and Divya Shrestha, whose generous sponsorship has made it possible to make this event free.

We encourage everyone to invite their mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends to join this evening of celebration and togetherness.

Dear OAN Community,

Unfortunately, tomorrow's dance class has been canceled.

Our instructor is currently under the weather, and to protect the health of our children and families, we have decided to cancel this week's class. We don't want to risk spreading any illness within our community.

We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience. The health and well-being of our young participants is always our top priority.

We look forward to seeing everyone back in next class. We will keep you updated on the next session.

Dear OAN Community,

Our "Learn to Dance" program was a great success last week! We had 18 young members for the dance session, and approximately 25 children joined us later to learn, exercise, and spend time together. The kids also sang a bhajan and National Anthem of Nepal.

This is more than just a dance class—it's a community program designed to help Nepali children get to know one another, grow together, build friendships, and develop confidence while staying connected to our culture.

Reminder: Based on the consensus of participating families, we have decided to move the class start time to 10:00 AM going forward.

Also, to help children focus, gain independence, and participate fully, parents will not be allowed in the dance classroom during class time.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing everyone this Sunday!

Dear OAN Community,

As promised, Oklahoma Association of Nepalese (OAN) will be hosting Nepali Dance Classes for Kids this summer!

Dance Classes for Kids

Where: 2325 NW 151st Street, Edmond, OK 73013
When: Every Sunday
Time: 11:00 AM
Instructor: Neema Lama
Duration: Approximately 1 hour (we will adjust as the program grows)
Cost: $10 per child, per class

Our goal goes beyond dance. We want to create a space where children can learn Nepali language, culture, traditions, and etiquette while building friendships within our community.

We believe that when our children come together, our community grows stronger. This is just the beginning, and we hope to expand this program in the future.

We Need Your Support!
Your participation, encouragement, and ideas will help us grow this program and create meaningful opportunities for our children to stay connected to their Nepali heritage.
