Sooner Job ChalleNGe is an optional next step for graduates of the Thunderbird ChalleNGe Program. At Sooner Job ChalleNGe, Associates will build upon the life and leadership skills they have already begun to develop at Thunderbird, while having the opportunity to further their success through career readiness and vocational training at Metro Tech. Two pathways will be available to Cycle #1 Associates: Culinary Arts and Structural Welding

📣 Cycle #1: January - June 2025 (Final dates will be announced soon.) Applicants must be:
✅ A graduate of the Thunderbird Challenge Program
✅ Ages 16.5-20 years old and at least a high school junior
✅ High school graduate, or on track to earn a high school diploma by the end of the program
✅ U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States
✅ No felony convictions or pending felony charges
✅ Free of illegal drug use

Jabee the rapper came to talk to the kids participating in the Goodwill Leadership camp at Goodwill Central Oklahoma. Associate Shook is attending. The CEO of Goodwill was also there (pictured on the left of the group photo).

The kids all got personalized jerseys with the 26 for this year and they also worked on resume writing and understanding conflict resolution.

Associate Shook is attending the Assist Youth Career Program hosted by Goodwill Central Oklahoma this week. It's called L.E.A.P. (Leadership, Employment, Attitude, Preparation). The Bootcamp teaches young adults personal leadership, career & life skills to set them on the path to brighter futures. Enjoy your training Associate.

You were never meant to give everything and keep nothing.

Somewhere along the way, we started treating exhaustion like dedication. We convinced ourselves that putting everyone else first was part of the job. And somehow, our own well-being keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the list.

But here’s the thing…You CAN love your students fiercely and still need a break. You CAN be passionate about your purpose and still feel overwhelmed. You CAN laugh, smile, and show up for everyone around you while quietly carrying things nobody knows about. And you don’t have to reach a breaking point.

We need more joy. We need connection. And we need each other.

On this World Mental Health Day, here’s your reminder: Your students matter. Your work matters. But YOU matter, too. And you are worth so much more than what you accomplish for everyone else.

At Salt Creek, we believe in empowering those who serve. And their mental health should never be the price of their dedication.
