Six years after her own cancer diagnosis, Rachel was back in the chemo room, bringing light to someone else’s gloomy day. 🩵

We connected with Rachel in 2020 when she was diagnosed with cancer. In 2021, she walked the runway as a survivor model Care Packs and Cocktails , joined the committee the following year, and since 2023 has served as co-chair of our survivor fashion show. She is loved by so many survivors she has helped feel seen, celebrated, and empowered through that role.

An elementary school teacher, Rachel also spends her school breaks delivering care packs. This week, she and her husband loaded up their car and showed up at the cancer center during a torrential downpour. That very day marked six years since her diagnosis.

Rachel reflected that the care packs may have meant even more to the fighters receiving them on such a gloomy day. She remembered having to go to chemo during a snowstorm herself and understood how much a little love and light could mean.

Her husband shares that same heart for helping others. Through his role as an area manager at Firestone , he has helped many of our cancer fighters with car repairs, easing one more burden during an already difficult time.

Rachel, thank you both for showing up, sharing love, and reminding cancer fighters they have people in their corner. Tenaciously Teal is blessed to have you. 🩵

Some of the most meaningful lessons about cancer come from walking through it alongside someone you love.

On Brooke Unruh’s episode of The Cancer Project she reflects on her close friendship and working relationship with Anna, her law partner who was diagnosed with breast cancer at just twenty-seven. Brooke was there through years of treatment, balancing the roles of friend, business partner, and support system while continuing to show up for Anna through the hardest moments.It changed the way she viewed life, loss, caregiving, and the importance of simply being there for someone when they need you most.

Anna’s impact continues to shape Brooke’s work today, including her involvement with Tenaciously Teal and its mission to support people facing cancer. Her story is a reminder that the relationships we build and the way we show up for one another can leave an impact long after someone is gone.

What makes Tenaciously Teal different?

It's the human connection behind it all. The Care. The Love. The text messages. The prayers. The friendships. The survivor who reaches back to help the newly diagnosed fighter. The reminder that someone sees you, understands you, and cares. Because sometime the most powerful thing is knowing you’re not alone.

Help us celebrate Lynsey! 🩵 A blood cancer survivor who received a care pack on day one of treatment, she has spent the last two years serving as Tenaciously Teal’s full-time Program Director, sharing that same love and encouragement with others.

She’s compassionate, full of life, and our event extraordinaire! From brainstorming ideas and making them happen to confidently working the phones and bringing people together through Tenacious Together events, she pours her heart into this mission.
